Palin seems to have been infected by the mountain air - he absolutely bounds with giddy dleight through this series!
Recently, Palin's most recent travel documentaries have been watched and received with great anticipation, but there is an air of 'tiredness' hanging over them - emphasised more by the fact Palin's first efforts, "Around the world in 80 days" and "Pole to Pole" are being regularly shown now on cable channels, reminding us of his infectious enthusiasm, delight in mixing with the local people and response to seeing new things. By the time he completed "Full Circle," it was clear the travel was beginning to burn him out - and "Full Circle" was a monumental volume of work!
But with Himalaya, I am pleased to say he is back in fine form, he seems to absolutely delight in meeting and chatting with the people of the Himalaya's. He joins in their celebrations, their lives. The editing is superb - the majestic and breathtaking beauty of the landscape a constant reminder to pack one's bags and go! Its also great to see him and his guide hooked up with wireless microphones so now there are shots of them strolling through market places and you get to see more of the people going about their daily business around them as opposed to earlier days when shots of Palin with his guide would have had to been close ups to accomodate the (hidden) microphone overhead. It all adds up to one slick and very entertaining program!
The music is also magical - why isn't it out on CD?!
This maybe the last travel documentary by Palin, but he went out on a magnificent high point - literally I guess! This is defintely the best thing he has been in since "Around the world in 80 days" and I can't imagine anyone not wanting to pack their bags and go and see these sights for themselves after this show! I truly envy Palin and the opportunity he has been given with these shows, but he makes up for that the best travel documentaries ever made - I applaud him and everyone in the making of Himalaya - fantastic!

It is unfortunate that only 10 people were in the theater besides my wife and I to watch this documentary film. The past head of the GAO for the last 3 presidents is the 'star' of this film and he presents the case about the national debt in a logical and yet terrifying manner. This is a must see for every high school student in America. Unfortunately, this will never happen. The film does present a method to save the country, but it will come at a cost that probably few in this land of ours will want to pay. But,if we don't, there is no doubt that a payment of some kind will occur, but it will be disastrous. Once you see this, you will begn to change your personal financial decisions with a wary eye on the future. Don't see this at your peril.

When I originally saw the initial broadcast of this great program on Lucy & Desi, it put the crown on the truth. Their lives are presented to us with absolute love and affection by Lucie Arnaz's direction, her commentary, as well as commentary by Desi Arnaz, Jr, Fred Ball, family and friends both personal and professional. This is the ultimate Lucy and Desi story from those in the know. I've worn out my VHS copy when I need a refresher. Glad it is on DVD in pristine quality. The "blooper" bonus is worth the price alone. I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time. Other bonuses included are several end-of-show commercials for Westinghouse products by the cast of the later Lucy-Desi Hour specials (those that would fit in after final announcements, etc in the bonus features of "I Love Lucy, Seasons 7-8-9"). What I call an "extra taste" is the "Here's Lucy" promo, which I thought before I pressed play was a commercial used to promote the show on CBS. Lo and behold, it was a long promo indicating that MPI will put out all six seasons of "Here's Lucy" in the future, plus the Lucille Ball Specials from 1974-80 that followed this series, and haven't been seen since original broadcast on CBS. I was flabbergasted, especially when I didn't see the second special with Dean Martin called "Lucy Goes To Vegas". The promo also shows beautiful picture and sound for all snipets of the episodes represented. Cannot wait until these come out. Will "The Lucy Show" and "Life With Lucy" soon follow? I sure hope so. Bravo, MPI.
