(More customer reviews)This season totally sucks. Damon Wayans was what really put fire into the show, but he left. He did make some comebacks on Men On Fitness and Handi Man, which were the classics. Keenan and Marlon were only on there for half of a season. This was truly the last season of In Livin' Color because after this, all the Wayans sibilings were gone. What really made this season suck were cutting off the original sketches that were funny : The Whitney Houston, Boys II Men, Joe and Latoya Jackson's parody to Michael's "In the Closet", The Jackson Bunch, Prince (WHY THEY DO THAT!?), and Michael Jacksons Black & White (BIG BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! - I'M MAD CUZ THAT WAS THE BEST AND FUNNIEST IN LIVING COLOR SKETCH!!!!!!). Total Ripoff! They don't edit these sketches when they play them on BET (they are on BET now) so for those that did'nt buy this DVD, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF TRASH THAT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE COMPLETE EPISODES!!! Just tape them on BET! I'm really disgusted and I give this DVD a F-!!!!!

In Living Color - Season 5 (1990) Review

(More customer reviews)I just got season 5 yesterday and already watched the first side of disc 1. Looks like this season is edited just like 2-4. I did notice on the box it did say edited content for DVD release. I don't know what is missing but so far the episodes are ranging between 15-20 minutes. I HOPE sometime in the future FOX entertainment will find a way to release some of the missing stuff or at least the music video parodies. It's better that we got something than nothing.

The final season of In Living Color was as outrageous as the first four, having thrust its courageous cast into stardom, especially Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier, Chris Rock and Jim Carrey. As usual, nothing was sacred and no public figure was safe, as the hilarious sketches challenged censors and viewers with piercing parody. (More customer reviews)"In Living Color" was so fresh, energetic, and hilarious when it first hit the Fox airwaves that you wondered how it could possibly keep up that level of entertainment. Well, it couldn't, exactly, but those first few shows, and many moments during the rest of the season, were insanely funny and groundbreaking.
Like all good sketch comedy, "In Living Color" immediately set out to create its own collection of recurring crazies (rather than the current SNL-method of mostly relying on celeb impressions), and look at how many still resonate: Fire Marshal Bill, the Men on Film, Anton, Homey...and so on. The show's genius is that it went for laughs anywhere it could - it could be richly satirical or downright silly and scatalogical, often in the same sketch. It basically counted on the intelligence and variety of its audience in a way that we haven't seen since, except maybe with "The Daily Show." "In Living Color" was edgy to the point of discomfort sometimes, but we wanted that too - everything else felt saccharine and safe next to "ILC," and we were ready to push some boundaries.
Eventually "In Living Color" would degenerate into low-minded skits based on grotesque impressions, gross-outs, and cruelty. But for one brief shining moment - captured on this DVD set - we all wanted to live In Living Color.
