(More customer reviews)I was beginning to think that I would be dead and buried before Sony had all eleven seasons of Married With Children out(knock on wood that I make it to October). We fans have had a long, long journey getting here. Star Trek came and went in all it's incarnations. Jessica started later and got her tenth season out prior to this (Murder She Wrote). So I am happy to be able to complete the collection with some of the best shows they did, even tho Fox had dumped them in spirit long before this and the show was beginning to show it's age. The "Al goes to Hell" episode with Robert Englund alone is worth the whole season. So to all of us who have been in the "Hell-evator, going down!", lo these many years...we finally have our floor in sight and we will at long last be in Married With Children Heaven with Buck.

It is my husband's ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE SHOW!! And, I am very excited too as his vhs tapes are simply worn out. Here are the episodes from Season 8 as stated on IMDB:

"Married... with Children" is the long-running FOX comedy sitcom that changed our view of the typical family comedy. The comedy series follows the lives of luckless shoe salesman Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill), his dysfunctional family and his bothersome next-door neighbors. In the tenth season, the Bundy Family is shocked when Peg's (Katey Segal) overbearing mother comes to live with them. Al and his NO MA'AM crew form a church to gain tax-exempt status. Bud (David Faustino) borrows money from the mob to finance Kelly's (Christina Applegate) exercise video. Jefferson's (Ted McGinley) anniversary surprise to Marcy (Amanda Bearse) ends badly. The tenth season marks the passing of the family pet Buck but was later reincarnated into the new family dog Lucky. The tenth season features some very enjoyable episodes with guest appearances by Tim Conway, Alan Thicke, Terry Bradshaw, Shannon Tweed, Richard Moll, Dan Novello, Ben Stein and Pat Morita. The episode "Enemies" was a pilot for another failed spinoff attempt from FOX.
"Married... with Children: The Complete Tenth Season" won't win an award for best DVD presentation, but there are enough funny moments in this season to make it worthwhile. All 26 episodes of the tenth season are presented in their original full screen format. The picture quality isn't stunning but still better than your typical syndicated rerun. The 2.0 Dolby Digital audio is satisfactory. The interactive menus are simple. There are no special features included. Overall, "Married... with Children: The Complete Tenth Season" gets a "B-".

Oops! There goes the neighborhood - AGAIN! It's more hilarity with the Bundy's. This season, Peg's mother moves in after leaving Peg's father. Al can't build a doghouse in peace. Sex distracts Bud from studying, and Al pressures Kelly into entering a bikini contest for the $100,000 prize.

(More customer reviews)Ok, ok, I know, Seven sucks. Gotcha. No argument there. But, I can ignore the scenes with him, read a magazine or something, until the king, the hero, the shoe man comes in to save us from the misery of Seven. Al Bundy is the funniest, greatest character I have ever seen, and even the weakest season of Married With Children still beats the heck out of the lame, tame, canned-laughter, seen-it-before tripe that networks spew out now, hoping we won't remember recycled jokes from the 70's and 80's.
Kelly and Bud are getting older now, and can have more adult situations now that they're out of high school. That only adds to the humor. Besides, Seven is only in a few episodes, not every one. Less than half. Strangely enough, The first disk has Seven the most, and it has the weakest episodes. Once Seven disappears, disks 2 and 3 have some hilarious episodes. So even though this DVD has crappy theme music, even though there are no extras at all, it still earns 5 stars from me. And, best of all, for season 8, no Seven, and.. the start of "No Ma'am!"

(More customer reviews)"Married ... with Children" is the longest running family sitcom in the entire history of episodic television. When the series premiered some 21 years ago on some obscure TV station called Fox no one thought that it would ever morph into this huge worldwide hit.
The Star of the series is Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill.) Al is the perpetual, typical husband who just can't catch a break no matter how hard he tries. Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal) is Al's love-starved wife. Peggy is just as horny as she is lazy. The woman has a serious aversion to work and enjoys passing her time smoking on the couch, watching Oprah and eating bonbons. Bud Bundy (David Faustino) is Al and Peg's son. Bud is totally the most intelligent person in this family, however he often gets sidetracked if there's a hot chick involved. Kelly (Christina Applegate) is the daughter of the family and such a sweet girl. Kelly has lofty dreams of being a model but first she'll need to master the art of turning the doorknob. Al can often be seen defending his daughter's honor because he wouldn't ever allow anyone to take advantage of his little "Pumpkin." As a matter of fact, even though he'd never admit it, Al is just as protective over both Peggy and Bud, too. Rounding out this very interesting group of people is Marcy D'Arcy (you gotta love that name) (Amanda Bearse) and Jefferson D'Arcy (Ted McGinley) the Bundys' neighbors. Marcy and Al have a very serious hatred for each other. I think this is because both are threatened by each other; Al is a man who isn't afraid to say what he wants and vice versa. Jefferson is Marcy's pretty boy second hubby. He's basically the male version of Peggy.
The reason why I love this series so much is because it never pretended to be anything than what it was. It never preached to the audience. It never put on airs. No one tried to "educate" the viewers. No one tried to give a "moral" to the story. And most of all the reason why I consider "Married... with Children" to be the defining sitcom of the 80's (and the 90's) is because it never tried to end each show with a "happy ending." Nope. They were miserable and they were staying miserable. Although, sometimes I bet Bud would have welcomed a "happy ending."
There are a total of 27 eps from Season 9 (as well as 1 special.) That's another reason why I loved this show because they often produced in excess of the standard 22 eps per Season. Season 9 is just as good as all of the others and my favorite show from this Season is "Kelly Takes a Shot." These are the Season 9 eps

Why was "Married ... with Children" so groundbreaking & controversial?
Unlike every other sitcom of the last 50 years, this one didn't show the pretty side of life. Instead they showed families as they really were. But more than that "Married ... with Children" celebrated this and embraced this. They never tried to improve upon the Bundy's. Sure, over the course of 11 Seasons they'd change and evolve (after all, even a pack of wild dogs will change) but this wasn't that typical systematic television evolution nonsense that (for some reason) was/is always intent on building people up and showing the sunny-side of life.
This is also the first American coast-to-coast program to use such strong language and adult themes and storylines. Of course today it may seem almost tame in the potluck of reality TV hell that domestic television has retrogressed into. (I can only imagine what Al would have to say about this latest batch of reality-garbage that's strewn all over the networks.) It may be hard to believe, but nearly 20 years ago, some of the things discussed on "Married ... with Children" were never discussed before.
All of the performers were perfect. This is because, like the series, they never took themselves or their roles too seriously. I'm sure Christina and David aren't Shakespearian trained but that's OK and they're probably better off for it. Ed never won an Emmy (he was never even nominated) the series was never in the Top 10 and perhaps overshadowed by those 2 other "groundbreaking" family sitcoms of the 80's/90's (you know which ones,) the writers never even received the acclaim that they very rightfully deserved.
As a matter of fact, some people were even outraged by the Bundy's. When the show premiered Fox was bombarded with letters and phone calls from angry parents demanding that they pull the plug on this show. For most of the run they had to battle the network and the mindless haters who were afraid of someone corrupting their kids' minds (I suppose the thought of simply changing the channel never occurred?)
But all of this really doesn't matter though. Because "Married ... with Children" has turned into a huge worldwide phenomenon. The series has been dubbed in more than 75 different languages (everything from German to Japanese to Italian to Indian.) The viewers recognized that this was a fine show and they were the ones who embraced "Married ... with Children" because there was never anything like it, before or since. The fans will never forget about this modern classic.
This was also a sitcom written from a man's perspective. How many other sitcoms are there like this? (I count zip.) And, in the 80's when everyone was turning all PC, this series stuck out like a smashed thumb. There have always been billions of shows from the women's prospective (I'm so sick of hearing otherwise.) But "Married...with Children" didn't conform to the norm. They didn't follow all of the other mindless sheep to that greener pasture. They set their own rules and on this show, father may not have always knew best, but he got his opportunity to be heard.

2) Dead Men Don't Do Aerobics - Peggy wins a week with Jim Jupiter, the healthiest man in Chicago.
3) Buck Saves the Day - Bud and Kelly attempt to raise money to attend a concert.
4) Tooth or Consequences - Excruciating pain has Al going to Marcy's dentist and finds out that he likes his assistant.
5) He Ain't Much, But He's Mine - Peggy thinks Al is more attractive after a visit to the beauty parlor.
6) Fair Exchange - Al and Peggy get $500 to house a foreign exchange student and Kelly becomes jealous of her popularity.
7) Desperately Seeking Miss October - Peggy sells Al's Playboy collection.

(More customer reviews)Married with Children is not only one of my all time favorite shows, but if I were to make a list of the top five sitcoms ever made, Married with Children would definately be on that list. The story behind the show never gets old. You have an aging and bitter shoe salesman named Al Bundy who was a big football star in high school that was forced to give everything up to marry his high school sweetheart Peggy. The premise of the show is to focus on the daily life of the Bundy family including an extremely attractive but unintelligent daughter Kelly, a sex crazed son named Bud that never gets the girl, and a lazy dog named Buck. The funniest thing about the Bundy family, is that despite the misery they put each other through, they always seem to band together when times are tough and others are going against them. Despite the fact that they live in a dumpy house and Al has one of the worst jobs imaginable, the Bundy's really do show at times that they are a family. The show combines top notch writing and great acting from Ed O Neil and company, as well as non-stop laughs.
The third season of Married with Children is when the show really started to hit its stride. The first two seasons were very good, but you could tell in the third season that the show was heading for bigger and better things. The storylines in the third season are somehow funnier and more entertaining than the last two seasons. A few examples of this are - "He Thought He Could" in which Al finds an extremely overdue library book from 1957 and is forced to confront the elementary school librarian that made his life hell; "The Camping Show" in which The Bundy's and Steve and Marcy all go on a camping trip and unfortunately for the men, Peggy, Kelly, and Marcy all get their period; "A Dump of My Own" in which Al sets out to build his own bathroom in the garage; "The Gypsy Cried" in which a psychic tells Marcy that she is going to die in a plane crash, and Al, Peggy, and Steve are all forced to go along because she is covinced that they all have good luck; and "Here's Lookin' at You, Kid" in which every woman in the neighboorhood gets spied on by an annoymous peeping tom, except for Peggy and she begins to try and do anything to attract the peeper's attention. The third season DVD set also features the episode "I'll See You In Court" that was never allowed to air on TV as an added bonus.
Overall, the third season of Married with Children is when the show really did hit its stride, and some of the series' best episodes are in the third season. Personally, I feel that if you are a fan of the show, it would be a shame not to buy the third season for a few reasons. One, if sales on the DVD sets suffer, then the rest of the seasons won't be released. Secondly, since the third season is so good, does it really matter that the original theme is not included? Most of the time, when watching a show on DVD, don't you usually just skip past the theme to watch the episode? The episodes themselves are going to be uncut and that is all that really matters in my opinion.
A solid 5 stars...
