Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda and Dodge Hemi Challenger Ponies from Mopar -- Plymouth’s little Barracuda, with new skin and without the huge rear window, became the hottest item on the street -- once the 426 Hemi engines found their way under the hood.A year later, Dodge joined the fray with the Challenger, and a new supercar was born. ‘68 Chevrolet Nova SS 396 THE BABY SUPER SPORTS -- How about a 375-horsepower 396 in a Chevy II Nova?If you had about three grand and nerves of steel, you could have owned one.

The DVD includes great interviews with Phil Bonner and Hubert Platt. It also includes great reference views of the engine bay, the chassis, the interior and the trunk.

‘64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt THE THUNDERBOLTS -- Ford went drag racing in 1964 with their new Fairlane and their NASCAR 427 engine.Talk about a ringer! The result was the most mind-boggling car the NHRA stock classes had ever seen. The factory claimed 406 horsepower, and even the Ford Engineers admitted this was difficult to do with a straight face. Ford Mustang Shelby GT-350 SHELBY -- Carroll Shelby’s tenure with the Ford Motor Company was sometimes rocky, always exciting. One result of Shelby’s marriage with Ford was some of the most amazing cars, based on the Mustang platform, ever to wear Dearborn Blue. The GT-350 was a limited-edition road rocket. You might not be able to buy one, but Hertz would rent you one!Shelby’s GT-500KR was not for the faint of heart. It featured every performance option you could get from Ford, including the 428 Cobra Jet mill.By the way, "KR" stood for "King of the Road".

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 and SS-454 SUPER SPORT -- Chevrolet’s SS designation originally adorned the high-performance Impalas, but the most popular Super Sport by far was the Chevelle. All it took was the 396 and 454 "rat motors" to turn this little grocery-getter into a pavement-pounder! ‘61 - ‘64 Chevrolet Impala 409 SHE’S REAL FINE -- the legendary 409 Impala.Chevy’s 348 engine was fine for most everybody, but some people felt they needed a little more kick... people like Junior Johnson, Buck Baker, and Dave Strickler. When Chevy squeezed one horsepower per cubic inch out of this engine in 1962, it sent everyone in Detroit back into the engine lab, and practically everyone else in America to the Chevy dealer.

Buick Gran Sport WHAT’S THAT?A BUICK? -- "Yeah, it’s a Gran Sport.Wanna race?"And that was usually the last of the conversation as the torque monster from Flint, Michigan buried its competition in leather-upholstered style.Stage 1 GS cars boasted an honest, dyno-tested 515 lb/ft of torque, the most torque of any U.S. production car EVER, including the mighty Hemi.Wouldn’t you really rather have a Buick? ‘69 - ‘71 Hurst Olds 442 4-BARREL, 4-SPEED, DUAL EXHAUST -- That spells 442, Oldsmobile’s entry into the horsepower wars.Olds was doing pretty well with the 330 C.I Cutlass, but their 400 engine turned it up several notches.Once again the Rocket Olsmobiles were back in the thick of it, just like they were in the fifties!

‘64 Pontiac GTO GRAN TURISMO OMOLOGATO -- The 1964 GTO is the one that started the whole Detroit Musclecar craze -- but it almost never happened.GM’s corporate policy wouldn’t allow such a lightweight car with such a huge engine, but Pontiac "finessed" the rules by making the GTO an option to the Tempest LeMans.Heavier springs, a 4-speed, red-line tires, and, oh yeah, by the way, the 348-horsepower 389.The cost of this option?Oh, about two hundred bucks. ‘69 Pontiac GTO Judge HERE COMES THE JUDGE -- Pontiac’s GTO is back in 1969 with outrageous paint and graphics, a popular catch phrase, and the 370-horse Ram Air IV engine. What a country!

This could be the dream-come-true DVD set for any muscle car lover. It was obviously conceived as a video book on the meanest, most desirable muscle cars of the sixties. There are a lot of them in the Season 1, and, as I can see, there will be plenty of them in the Season 2. Both discs are literally packed with interesting facts and figures. Some of them are well known and some of them are not, at least, for me. There are fantastic stories from owners of the cars and such musclecar gurus as Jim Wangers, Paul Zazarine, and others in abundance. What is more important, the set is pretty well compiled. The text is smooth and well written. In fact, it could be good enough for chapters of the exciting book! And the video is even more impressive. The discs are full of stunning footage of beautiful cars, priceless vintage video, and so on, and so on. In other words, if you are looking for real muscle cars in real action, you won't be disappointed, too. The quality of the video is top-notch. Personally I especially liked the footage of the cars from the Floyd Garrett's Musclecar Museum. It is awesome! The sound is just excellent, and the price is more than reasonable. Could you imagine something like this when you were attending the college back then, in the sixties? As for me, I'm anxious to buy the Season 2, and the Season 3, if it is only available for sale. Please!!!
