(More customer reviews)Mostly Ghostly is a great halloween movie. The acting is great and the storyline is even better. It is along the lines of goosebumps if you are familiar with that series. Here is a short version of the storyline...A brother (Nicky) and sister (Tara) come back to their old neighborhood just to find out that they are ghosts. They can't find their parents so they go to their old house in search of them only to find a new family lives there. One of the kids that lives at their old house (Max) can see and talk to the Tara and Nicky but Max is the only one. Tara and Nicky are scared because nothing is familiar to them now so they inlists Max's help to find their parents. A quest to find the parents lead the kids into a lot of different trouble...buy the movie to see what happens next.
There are a lot of familar faces in this movie including Madison Pettis (The gameplan), Kim Rhodes and Brian Stepanek (suite life of zack and cody), Ali Lohan (Lindsay's little sister), and Noah Cyrus (Miley's little sister). This is actually a great family halloween movie that the entire family will enjoy. If you are looking for a great family Halloween movie I suggest that you add Mostly Ghostly to your dvd collection.

RL Stine's The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It (Widescreen Edition) (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)I used to be a huge fan of R.L. Stine, but as I got older, I realized that his books were pretty stupid. When I heard about The Haunting Hour, I decided to give it a shot since it had a great cast. My expectations were low, but the movie proved to make for an exciting two hours. Emily Osment is a great actress and was able to play a very different character from her role on Hannah Montana. The rest of the cast were pretty good too, with the exception of the little brother and parents who I felt were a bit annoying. The plot isn't that different from a typical Goosebumps books, but the great characters, amazing soundtrack and snappy writing make it special.
Either R.L. Stine is really improving as a writer, or he wasn't involved in the movie that much. The only problem I really had was the last few minutes, which felt like a typical, stupid ending you'd find in Goosebumps. All that aside, this is a very interesting movie that even managed to creep me out a bit. Give us a Volume 2!

(More customer reviews)A wonderful addition to any DVD collection. R.L. Stine, the man behind the "Goosebumps" legacy, has returned with this collection of tales from his "The Nightmare Room" series. This disc features four episodes from the television series. The episodes in question are "Camp Nowhere" (Parts 1 & 2), "Don't Forget Me" and "Full Moon Halloween." "Camp Nowhere" sees Russel, Dave, Erin, and Charlotte attend Camp Hawkwood. The campfire story depicts a ghost-camp. In a routine initiation the four experience the `story' first-hand. Will they escape alive? In "Don't Forget Me" a family moves into a new house. Danielle is left to look after her brother Peter when the parents go away. To make him a better brother, Danielle decides to hynotize Peter, who then begins to act strange. Does this have anything to do with the calls from the basement or is it a hynotization gone wrong? Lastly, in "Full Moon Halloween" a rumoured werewolf is attacking people. An invite to a surprise Halloween party for five friends soon turns into a game of `Who is the werewolf?' Will everybody pass, fail, or is it all a hoax? Each of the episodes are excellently scripted and are great stories. The episodes even feature familiar faces....faces such as Amanda Bynes (Big Fat Liar), Sam Jones III & Allison Mack (Smallville), Frankie Muniz (Malcolm In The Middle), Madeline Zima (The Nanny) + a few others. In term of the special features, they are quite excellent as well. Aside from trailers from other Warner Brothers titles, an an intervew with R.L. Stine entitled "The Nightmare Files," there is a bravery test of our darkest fears in "Do You Dare," and lastly a choose-your-own-adventure type of interactive game with "The Nightmare is Yours:Sink or Swim" where you decide your fate. I recommend that this disc be picked up because the stories and features are things that people of all ages would enjoy. So please don't forget to venture into "The Nightmare Room" or else "The Nightmare Room" will venture into you! :-)

Teaches them about making choices and that they can win or at least put forth their best effort in situations. And best of all, It gives grandmothers a chance to snuggle with their grandchildren.
