(More customer reviews)It has been years since I last saw "Welcome Back, Kotter." It is a real treat to see it coming out on DVD. No one could have imagined the break out star John Travolta would become, trading in his tight t-shirt for a white leisure suit, as Gabe Kaplan fights to hold his own against an unruly class of "Sweathogs," who fall below the curve of Buchanan High School. This was the first high school comedy to capture a gritty urban feel. Room 222 had its moments but was sticky sweet by comparison. Gabe Kaplan drew on his life experiences, which had been the fodder of his stand-up routines, to capture a lively classroom of remedial kids led by Vinnie Barbarino. They manage to stay one step ahead of Vice Principal Woodman (John Sylvester White), but Kotter knows the tricks all too well, having been a sweathog himself in his youth. Robert Hegyes, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (who enjoyed a brief celebrity of his own) and Ron Palillo round out the motley crew, representative of the racial diversity of the school. Marcia Strassman is wonderful as Kotter's wife, Julie, who has to listen to his daily accounts each evening, reminiscent of the bed conversations between Bob and Emily Newhart. The show had a good run of 4 seasons, which is appropriate given that it was a high school comedy. And, don't forget the wonderful theme song by John Sebastian.

Forever Knight - The Trilogy, Part 2 (1994 - 1995) Review

(More customer reviews)Nick Knight ( Geraint Wyn Davies) is a vampire who has lived for almost 800 years. However, he has always wished that he could become mortal again. To repay his debt to society, he works as a homicide detective for the Toronto Metropolitan Police. While he secretly uses his vampire abilities to solve the city's most difficult cases with his smart-mouthed and witty partner Don Schanke ( John Kapelos), he attempts to find a cure for his case of vampirism with his best friend and fellow medical pathologist Natalie Lambert (Catherine Disher).
I have been a fan of the vampire genre my whole life. There have been many films and television shows that have focused on that very subject. However, Forever Knight is one of the best overall that I have ever seen. All I can say is that I am extremely excited about the release of season two on DVD. The first season DVD set was not very well put together in my opinion. But it looks like the powers that be are rectifying their mistakes. We get actual extras this time and at a much better price than before. However, for me in this case, the lower price and fantastic extras that are being offered, are just icing on the cake. I want the set mainly for the episodes themselves. The first season of Forever Knight was excellent. But the second season is my favorite one of the whole show. After the first episode, Lacroix was only shown via flashbacks for the entire first season. We finally get to see Nick's vampire mentor and sire Lacroix return and do more than just connect us to Nick's past. The second season really lets Nigel Bennet show us why he is the most talented actor on the show. He plays Lacroix perfectly throughout the season. Secondly, the plot lines in season two are considerably better than the first season as well. A great example of this, is the episode "Close Call" in which Schanke gets closer to the truth about Nick.
Overall I could not be happier with the second season set they have put together. With a fantastic season and great extras at a more afforable price, I consider this set a must own for any fan of the vampire genre.
A solid 5 stars...

(More customer reviews)Will I be buying the next two - absolutely! Would I be willing to pay more for a better product - absolutely! Will I let other FK fans know about the DVDs - already have, with cautions.
I fell in love with Forever Knight the first time I saw it on late night TV. I have been anxiously waiting for the show to come out on DVD,and pre-ordered as soon as I found that it was finally going to be released. Within the first 30 minutes my excitement was tinged with disappointment...there are missing scenes from the pilot episode, there are no extras, interviews, etc. C'mon guys why aren't all the eps at least the full Canadian version (European would be even better!) Why no extras? All the actors, producers, directors and writers are still around would getting some interviews be that difficult? Outtakes have to exist why not include them? As for the ads for other products that are being presented as extras - didn't watch and not going to watch - if it doesn't include some of the FK cast don't even bother to put it into the next two.

(More customer reviews)What's Happening Now!! is one of my favorite TV shows, with most of its original cast from the What's Happening!! show back in 1976-1979. What's Happining Now!! ran from September 7th, 1985 until September 3rd, 1988 for a total of Three seasons and 66 episodes (22 episodes for each season).
In this season Raj was newly married and trying to make it as a writer. Raj and Nadine, who were living in the house he had grown up in, took in a foster child named Caroline for a time. Rerun & Dwayne, now a used car salesman and a computer programmer, respectively, were sharing an apartment. Shirley and Raj were also partners running Rob's, and Dee (who only showed up occasionally) was in college.
