I caught this series in the middle of series 2. I watched it to the end of series 3, when WE stopped carrying it.
I purchase series 1 from amazon, and it is very good, because it is about the girls and the ranch and daily travails.
Later in the series, boyfriends and whatnot intrude and it becomes more complicated. I am hoping to buy series 4 someday, but it is being released very slowly. They are finished with series 7 in Australia, so we are behind.
Highly recommended for moms, daughters, and anybody who loves Australia.

Queer as Folk - The Complete Third Season (Showtime) (2003)

QUEER AS FOLK is still one of the most amazing TV Shows ever and is a landmark as the show for the new millennium. This New Queer As Folk Season 3 DVD Box Set has all 14 episodes of the third season of one of the most controversial and bravest series on television today. The BOX SET includes Bonus features such as: Behind-the-camera, Hot Summer Days, Wrap Party Reel, Enter Babylon LA, Meet the Folks, Animated Photo Gallery, Season Four Sneak Preview, Weblink, Music Videos, and a few other surprises. I have seen all 14 episodes of Season 3 and it is another great season with some major twists. I am a little upset that this season is very short when compared to season 1 and 2, which both had about 7 or 8 more episodes, but either way it is still a good season. I am still amazed at how honest this show is on dealing with gay life. Not every gay person lives a life like these guys, and I sure don't but that's not what this show is about. Queer As Folk ia about the life of a group of gay guys and a lesbian couple living in Pittsburgh. Queer As Folk makes no apologies and thats what is so great about this series. From the graphic sex scenes to the drama of dealing with the prejudice that still haunts America, this show is so brave and I give Showtime a big thumbs up for having the balls to take on such a big risk as Queer As Folk. This show is as close as it gets to real life. This is not a show just for gay people, but for ALL people. It deals with human emotion and thats something that we can all relate to whether we be straight, gay, bisexual, black, white, brown or in between. I encourage anyone who has a open mind and a open heart to BUY this amazing DVD collection as it will inspire you and if nothing else open your mind to a lifestyle not as uncommon as you may think. Watch more than one episode before you judge this amazing series. I would just like to say Queer As Folk Season 1 and 2 are also great to own. I will be in line when they release Season 3 of Queer As Folk on DVD in February 2004.

I was watching TV (Cartoon Network, of course!) with my younger brother's boys, and my younger sister's girls. Shows like Kids Next Door, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, two shows okay for kids, but left me talking to them about the cartoons that "I" watched when I was their age: The Herculoids, Space Ghost, etc. They sat there listening to me talk about these shows, and how cool they were to me, when my youngest nephew says "Ben 10". I asked them what that was and they tell me its about a boy that can turn into 10 alien monsters to fight bad guys, kinda like the cartoons that I watched, but way better! It comes on right after Foster's. Well an hour later (they showed two episodes in a row of Ben 10) I was hooked! Ben 10 has a very interesting storyline (even for adults), and very cool Alien/Monster designs. The two episodes I watched dealt with "Ghostfreak" one of Ben's aliens escaping from the Omnitrix, and trying to merge its form with Ben's so it can survive in the sunlight, and commit horrible things. This was actually kind of a creepy character, and a dark story, I loved it! And so did the kids. As I said before, I was hooked! I watched this show every chance that I could with them, and now I own them all in the 3 DVD sets that have been released so far.
If you are an adult that still likes cartoons, or just want to have something that is very fun, and entertaining for the kids to watch, you need to get Ben 10!

Ben Tennyson was just an average 10-year-old kid – until he discovered a strange alien watch in a crashed meteorite. Called the Omnitrix, this watch gives Ben the ability to transform into any of 10 alien heroes, all the while keeping his 10-year-old personality.

The Program:
Since the A/V quality of the episodes is quite similar to the previous two sets, I will spend a little more time on the episodes in this set. Season 3 is generally regarded as the weakest of the Original Series (TOS), and I won't offer much argument. Several episodes have rather silly premises. But that said, there are still several gems, the actors all still give it an earnest go, and the characters they have created carry the day. Season 3 is still entertaining and charming, if not as cerebral as the prior two seasons. Here are the episodes you get, with my own humble opinion and ratings (out of 5).
Disc 1
Spock's Brain - a decent SF premise marred by silly execution. Spock as a radio controlled automaton is just a bit hard to take seriously. 2/5
The Enterprise Incident - A classic show in which Kirk and Spock infiltrate a Romulan vessel to steal vital technology. 5/5
The Paradise Syndrome - Kirk loses his memory on a planet with a "Native
American" style culture. A decent show. 4/5
And the Children Shall Lead - Ugh, what a stinker. A very annoying alien uses children to do his bidding. 1/5
Is There in Truth No Beauty? - Diana Muldaur in her 2nd TOS appearance. A decent show. 3/5
Disc 2
"Spectre of the Gun" - Some love it, some hate it. I love it. The sparse design is visually stimulating, and the "western" setting is a precursor to later 'holodeck' shows. 4/5
"Day of the Dove" - A pretty good show featuring the Klingons and a rage-inducing alien presence. 4/5
"For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky" - Good sci-fi concept, but one TOS has done before, a society controlled by a computer. 3/5
"The Tholian Web" - Kirk trapped in another dimension while aliens attack. Decent, but the pacing is a little sluggish. 4/5
"Plato's Stepchildren" - Absolute telepathic power corrupts a race of beings who once visited ancient Greece. Decent concept, but what of "Apollo?" 3/5
Disc 3
"Wink Of An Eye" - Some fun bits with an alien race that is sped up beyond our ability to see. 3/5
"The Empath" - a weird, sluggish, kind of boring show about a trapped telepath who is the subject of alien experiments. 2/5
"Elaan of Troyius" - A royal alien irritates the crew with her demands. She irritates the viewers, too. 2/5
"Whom Gods Destroy" - an ex-captain attempts to escape an insane asylum. 4/5
"Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" - one of Trek's most hackneyed attempts to address a 'Big Issue,' that of racism. 2/5
Disc 4
"The Mark of Gideon" - An overpopulated planet concocts a crazy scheme to use the Enterprise to depopulate. Creepy and interesting. 4/5
"That Which Survives" - a rather pointless episode about the last survivor of a dying race. 2/5
"The Lights of Zetar" - a strange cosmic storm attacks the Federation library world. 3/5
"Requiem for Methuselah" - Interesting show about an "immortal" man from earth's history. 4/5
"The Way to Eden" - Space hippies. One of the worst Trek episodes ever. 1/5
Disc 5
"The Cloud Minders" - One of the most overtly political shows in TOS, a race of aristocrats in the clouds subjugates a race of workers down below. 3/5
"The Savage Curtain" - I don't know how they made "Abraham Lincoln in Space" work, but somehow it does. 3/5
"All Our Yesterdays" - a great s/f premise, in which a dying world sends its inhabitants back in time. 5/5
"Turnabout Intruder" - an almost unbearably sexist show in which an ex-girlfriend of Kirk's envies his job and his gender. 2/5
Disc 6
"The Cage" (2 Versions) - What Trek could have been. Amazing to see in HD. The original adventures of Captain Pike, Number One, and Spock. Quite a brainy show, with many interesting characters. 5/5
"Where No Man Has Gone Before" (Alternate) A slightly different edit of the classic 2nd pilot. This cut has a voice-over intro, a few extended scenes, a different theme song, and title cards that say "Act 1" etc. While it was transferred in 1080p from an original film print, it has not undergone the cleaning and color restoration that the other episodes have. All the effects are original as well. Definitely one of the top 5 TOS episodes ever, so it's nice to have this additional stuff. 5/5
The Blu-Ray:
Like the previous 2 sets, the HD transfers of these shows are absolutely sparkling. Detail is through the roof, making every smile line, button and dial, star, and ship detail just pop right off the screen. Black levels are rock solid, especially in space scenes. Color saturation is deeper than deep, and bright colors are radiant in a way that the previous DVDs just can't replicate. The show is presented in its original 4:3 aspect ratio.
The only shots that don't enjoy the same quality are shots with original optical effects in them (e.g. a phaser blast, the transporter). These shots are blurrier and grainier, because the film elements were scanned twice or more back in the 60s to introduce optical effects. These account for maybe 5% of each broadcast.
Special effects sequences have been redone with modern CGI and in high definition. They look uniformly great, and they respect the original design aesthetic of the 1960's material. All the original effects are on the same disc, and you can either watch the show with either set of effects all the way through, or switch on the fly with the "angle" button on your remote.
Also included are several extra features. Several mini-documentaries, mostly reprised from the previous DVD set, are included on the final disc. New features include include several panel discussions from a recent convention, and a set of "home movies" from an extra on the Trek set. Unfortunately, there are no text or video commentaries on any of the episodes.
The packaging has its issues. It doesn't match the previous two sets in size, though it does in design. Again, my main beef is the fact that episode information is placed INSIDE the liner of the case. This means that ALL of the episode information is covered by the two discs in front and back. Having to pop out discs just to see what's on them is really dumb. Why not put the episode titles on each disc's face? Instead, I flipped the insert around so I could read it more easily.
*****
Even though the content is not as strong as the previous 2 sets, the quality is still stellar, and the extras (especially the "Cage" episode) are very good. There are several classic shows, and even the ho-hum shows still have that Shatner-rific and Nimoy-tastic character magic.
For a Trek fan with a Blu-Ray player, this is a no-brainer. It's essential to any HD Trek collection, and the quality of the presentation is top-notch. For everyone else, try the first set instead, see if you like it, and come back to this later.

Dawson's Creek - The Complete Third Season (1998) Review

Dawson's Creek - The Complete Third Season (1998)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first episode I ever saw of "Dawson's Creek" was when the gang graduated from Cape Side High School, at which point I learned that Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek) was still a virgin, which certainly took a lot of the suspense out of "The Complete Third Season." This is the season that convinces us that Pacey (Joshua Jackson) is serious competition for Dawson in the Joey (Katie Holmes) sweepstakes, not only because Dawson and Joey run hot and cold for each other on alternate timetables but also because Pacey can be awfully darn cute when he wants to be. Consequently his earnest pursuit of the clueless Joey remains the bright spot in a series where most of the characters get seriously sidetracked.

Season Three begins with a series of oblique turns in the first episode, "Like a Virgin." Joey is interested in Dawson, which should be a good thing, but he is fascinated by the mysterious Eve, a new bad girl in town and end up crashing his dad's boat and trying the whole "Risky Business" approach to making the money he needs to get the boat fixed. Jen (Michelle Williams) does a wonderful job of demolishing the school's head cheerleader, in a telling speech about what life will be like 25 years down the road, and in a twist of fate that defies logic in the high school I remember is made Head Cheerleader. Apparently now once Kevin Williamson was gone, the idea was to jerk the chains of the characters as often as possible.

Eve continues to titillate and embarrass Dawson in turn, Jen gets to experience the joys of Homecoming Queen along with being Head Cheerleader ("Secrets and Lies"), Jack (Kerr Smith) joins the football team as the gay wide receiver ("Homecoming"), and Andie (Meredith Monroe) comes back from the sanitarium only to cheat on the PSAT ("None of the Above") and then slowly but surely melt down again as the guilt eats away at her. When Jen decides to respond to the advances of the freshman quarterback that just has to be the most unbelievable thing she did in the entire run of the show, while Pacey having to deal with troubled little kid Buzz (Jonathan Lipnicki) just screams "blatant attempt to increase the ratings." Only when the cast gets out of Capeside and goes off to Boston in "First Encounters of the Close Kind" to see what college life could be like do we remember why we like these characters or were rooting for them.

Okay, so there is large downside to the third season of "Dawson's Creek," but it is not like you should skip over the season and move on to the fourth because some things do happen here that you are going to want to remember later on. When Pacey gets the lead in the school play " Northern Lights," that at least makes sense and when Joey's mural is defaced ("Crime and Punishment") and the principal's job ends up in jeopardy because of his response ("To Green, With Love") there is at least some idea Capeside is in the real world. But when Pacey actually kisses Joey ("Cinderella Story"), we are back on track big time, because each is so busy being concerned with what Dawson will think ("Neverland") that they sort of forget to deal with what they think about what just happened. Of course they are immediately thrown together in intimate circumstances ("Stolen Kisses"), so that they can suffer for their unexpressed feelings, and we get to the season's best episode, "The Longest Day," in which the triangle explodes and we can safely say that nothing will ever be the same again.

Of course even if Dawson has not been interested in Joey all year that is no reason for him not to be interested now that Pacey wants her and the next thing we know Dawson and Pacey are having a macho grudge match during the Capeside Regatta ("Show Me Love"), where you just know that who wins the race will lose the girl. When you get to the point where Dawson and Pacey might start beating up on each other over Joey then things are getting promising. Never mind that Jen is still dealing with the kid quarterback, that Dawson is supposedly giving up his film-making career, and that we are still worried about the Potter Bed & Breakfast.

This show comes down to Dawson, Joey, and Pacey, where any combination of the two is usually a good thing and having all three involved turns this into a twisted teenage version of the most famous love triangle of Arthur, Guenivere, and Lancelot. Even though this is the third of the show's six seasons, what happens at this point not only sets up the final episode with Joey's final choice, but retroactively recasts everything that happened previously so that it bears on how this triangle plays out. So three stars on the first half, five on the second, and we will split the difference overall.

I'm a Partridge Family fan from when it first aired. I had every album, knew every word to every song, watched every night.. had the neighbors in our garage with the record player and tennis racket for guitars, boxes and cans and chopsticks for my drums, the banana seat on my bike as a keyboard, and a real tamborine as we all played with the Partridges AS the Partridge Family, singing to imaginary crowds or garage rehersals.. for hours on end.
I have to disagree. The FIRST season was the BEST! (Jeremy Gelbwaks was a better Chris Partridge. Had more and better lines). However... owning Season 3 and hopefully soon Season 4 to complete my Partridge Family Collection would be the a dream come true.
No, it did not go to a 5th season, and I totally agree... I hope it doesn't take as long to release the final.. season 4.. Would be nice if they include some interviews with the cast.. (including Jeremy). Would be nice to see HOW they recorded the music scenes for the show... (Pads over the drums and keyboards). Maybe even include the "This Is Your Life" on Shirley Jones, as well as include the HORRIBLE NEW PARTRIDGE FAMILY pilot they did in 2005. (It was better than The Partridge Family AD cartoon).
Would also be nice if they released another CD with more unreleased songs on it too as a set. RM1 TJ Tropea

*SPOILER ALERT*
I absoulty loved season 3! I loved the bull riding with Junior and RJ, and I loved the romance with RJ and Dani. (Spoile alert) I also hated the fact that they killed off RJ. They should have kept him on and become a regular. Speaking of becoming a regular, I also need to mention Junior/Gillian and one of my all time favorite characters, Shiek Omar O'Hattan (otherwise known as 'O').
They also should of kept the Junior/Gillian romance. I absoulty adored thier dance and long-lunches at Bobby's in 'The Good-Bye'; I also loved how they went for a run and how good they looked together at 'O's party in 'Picking Sides'.
Now on to my all time favorite recurring character, Shiek Omar O'Hattan. I loved him. I always watch 'So Long Pardor' just to see how a big part he played in the illegal matchrace (which he did since it was HIS idea after all), and I was SO disappointed that he and his 'investors' didn't get in trouble for the matchrace, and I was even MORE disappointed that he didn't come back for season 4.
Bottom line, if you like this series, you will either like or LOVE (like I did) Season 3. Even though it ended 2 years ago, I still watch this season all the time!

Private Practice: Complete Third Season Review

Private Practice: Complete Third Season
Average Reviews:

I've watched this season on live TV and followed it since the main character Addison left Seattle Grace (Grey's Anatomy) and lived in LA. Now I admit that the first season of Private Practice wasn't as amazing as it should have been following in the large footsteps of Grey's Anatomy. However, it was good enough to stand up on it's own.
The second season really didn't explore too much of the characters and focused more on the medical cases and those sort of stories which did make it good but the characters seemed somewhat shallow and hard to watch sometimes since we couldn't understand their intentions.
However, this season pulls us MUCH more into the character's history and actually lays down a whole case for everyone. Everyone had their shining moment and story which were pretty well written in my opinion and was much better than the previous two seasons. Especially jumping off Season two's cliffhanger. In my opinion, it was a strong show but there were times where I wished there was more.
I'm still a loyal fan and watcher.

Dallas: The Complete Third Season (1978) Review

Dallas: The Complete Third Season (1978)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Dallas's" place in television history is cemented and Larry Hagman's "J.R. Ewing" ranks as one of the medium's most despicable yet captivating characters. That said, the third season (actually the SECOND full one) has more to tout than Mary Martin's son and the cliffhanger-to-end-all-cliffhangers, "A House Divided".
This is the season that introduced Mary Crosby's wickedly alluring "Kristen Sheppard". The role had been originated by Coleen Camp in two earlier episodes but Bing's daughter made it her own, assuring her place in the annuls of television crime with an episode that would premiere in the following season. Also on hand is Martha Stewart as Sue Ellen's mother. Stewart had a lengthy Hollywood career and is best remembered for her motherly roles, having played Charlton Heston's mom twice in both The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur.
This is also the year that Gary Shackleford took over as "Gary Ewing," the estranged son that would later be the star of the "Dallas" spinoff "Knots Landing," also starring Joan Van Ark ("Valene Ewing").
"Dallas" also featured a variety of supporting players, culled from some longstanding character actors, that added to the success of the series. Dennis Patrick ("Vaughn Leland"), George Petrie ("Harve Smithfield"), veteran Morgan Woodard ("Punk Anderson"), movie legend Keenan Wynn ("Digger Barnes") and even Marlon Brando's sister Jocelyn ("Mrs. Reeves") are colorful additions to the "Dallas" gallery.
In addition, season three introduced Jared Martin as "Dusty Farlow," the true love of Sue Ellen's life, as well as the fictional son of future cast member Howard Keel.
"Dallas" also continued its occasional jab at contemporary and provocative issues, especially with the two-parter "Mastectomy," featuring bravura work from Barbara Bel Geddes, as "Miss Ellie" copes with the emotional and physical aftermath of the surgery, and Jim Davis's "Jock Ewing" having to make his wife feel that she is still the woman that he fell for forty years earlier.
But, more than anything, this is the season wherein Linda Gray ("Sue Ellen") emerged as one of television's best actresses. She ran the gamut of emotions as the much-maligned wife of the lecherous J.R., showing both supreme strength and extreme vulnerability.
It is a shame that neither she or Hagman ever received the coveted Emmy for their efforts.
The DVD compilitation features two episodes with interesting commentary by Duffy and Gray.
The only downside is the double-sided disc format. This seems like episodes "on the cheap" and a show of this stature deserves better.
