(More customer reviews)The premise of the original short, Creature Comforts, was to take interviews with ordinary people & transform them into comedic animal representations via the medium of claymation. Nick Park & his team developed this brilliantly funny concept through an entire 13 episode series.
This dvd is amazingly funny - even what may be perceived as the weaker episodes have their sparkling moments. If you're a fan of Wallace & Gromit or just a fan of funny animation, this dvd is for you. The format has no definite story line, but rather is a topical discussion - kind of like Dr. Doolittle meets Oprah. Addressing such questions as "Where do we come from?", "Are there aliens?" and "Cats vs. Dogs" - these installments will leave you in stitches. The animation is flawless, the interview editing superb. Just an overall delight.

(More customer reviews)Honestly I have never seen the Academy Award-winning Wallace & Gromit but I am sure glad it's creators came out with Shaun the Sheep. I have seen Shaun the Sheep a few times as short skits on the Disney channel, but I didn't think much of it. When I watched this DVD, I laughed, laughed, and laughed some more! It is adorable and even though it is claymation and doesn't use spoken words. The way those mischievous sheep get into trouble with the dog trying to watch over them, and somehow the farmer never catches them!Shaun the Sheep "A Woolly Good Time" is just the newest video featuring those crazy sheep and it is 40 minutes of laughs, and I don't usually like slapstick humor. I was really surprised too that my 3-year old liked it, as he usually only likes cartoon but even he was laughing when the sheep were sneaking around! I can still picture those crazy sheep with the farmers clothes on their heads! I would definitely recommend it for all ages, not just kids!

(More customer reviews)We first saw Shaun the Sheep on Disney and our son (one year old at the time) loved it so much we bought the DVD set from Amazon UK and a Region Free DVD player just so he could watch it. He's almost 2 1/2 now and still loves it. He recently started watching Wallace and Gromit and loves the trio of shows and the were-rabbit movie, too!

(More customer reviews)My son and I are big fans of Shaun the Sheep series (and Wallace and Gromit). The tiny space aliens made both of us laugh, and I'm continually amazed at the creativity of the entire series. The Hiccups story was funny--this time it's the sheep and not my son or the labrador who has hiccups. Some of the stories are better than others, but there is always something to make me smile, and that's a lot these days, eh? My son is non verbal, autistic and Down syndrome, so this series is easily understood by him, and it makes him laugh.

Unidentified Farm Objects and paranormal sightings are the norm with Shaun the Sheep and his barnyard buddies Bitzer, Shirley, and Timmy, as they encounter more madcap mischief along with those Naughty Pigs next door. (More customer reviews)Oh, No!!! They changed the look of the Farmer and Bitzer!!! This was very distractive and disappointing, if you've seen all the first episodes...
They also have tons of background sound effects and noises (like blowing raspberries) that overwhelm the previous quietness of the previous episodes. Sometimes there's value in quietness; it puntuates something to come. Way overfilled with "fluff" noises....
While I understand the need to change the mouths of both the Farmer and Bitzer for quicker transitions for shots, it's just not as high quality as the first episodes. Plus, they completely changed Bitzer's look: extended lighter belly fur up to his new mouthline, and added a fox-like tail....argh!!! It's not the Bitzer we've all come to know and love.
Why did Nick Park, et al., change a fantastic formula that worked so brilliantly well?
Please, people, and fans of Nick Park, email the brilliant man and tell him while we understand the business decision behind it, to go back to the original characters!!!

REAL QUICK...The first season was adorable and whitty...the second season is every bit as good and better at times. The clay animation is fantastic and I can't help but wonder how brilliant the creaters are to think of a skits based on dialog from simple interviews. Very smart indeed.
I'm glad it includes the "Merry Christmas everybody" episode, that even makes it a better value.
Nice, clean and smart comedy that I highly recommend. In fact, I highly recommend both seasons...
BRILLIANT, FUNNY and GREAT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. 2 THUMBS UP...WAY UP!

Creature Comforts America - The Complete Season One (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)"Creature Comforts" comes from the same company that produces the wonderful claymation "Wallace & Gromit" shorts and movies like "Chicken Run." Episodes consisted of scenes of claymation animals speaking with the voices of regular people talking about their everyday lives.
A British version has become very popular in the UK but unfortunately the American version just didn't catch on. CBS pulled the series after only three weeks on the air due to low ratings.
Why? The show wasn't really intended for kids and I suspect many adults didn't watch it because they thought that it was for children. A producer on the series also shared with me that the length of the show (30 minutes) might have been a problem. The UK episodes are about 10 minutes long which may be the ideal length for something like this.
The project took months and months to complete so it's nice that the fans and general public will now have a chance to see all seven episodes.
