"Cleanin'" - With Saffy gone on a long-overdue holiday, Patsy and Eddy have the house to themselves, though curiously it isn't everything they imagined it would be. Eddy has moved her PR business into her living-room, with several high-profile new clients on the books including Emma Bunton. Suddenly Saffy returns..with an announcement that will send Eddy's world into a tailspin.
"Book Clubbin'" - Eddy and Patsy's little book club meets to discuss their latest selection, an abridged mini version of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', though Mariella Frostrup fails to bring her celebrity pals. Meanwhile Saffy invites her boyfriend around to break the big news.
"Panickin'" - Eddy installs a panic room, whilst Patsy tries to get chummy with Minnie Driver. Real panic ensues when a lockdown occurs leaving Eddy and Patsy trapped in the high-tech fortress, leaving Minnie in the 'capable' hands of Bubble.
"Huntin' Shootin' Fishin'" - Eddy is doing some Royal PR so she and Pats decide to travel down to the country to see how the other half live. Saffy holds her baby shower with Emma Bunton and her ever-bizarre old school friend Sarah (aka 'Titty KaKa')
"Birthin'" - Saffy has gone into labour, ruining Patsy's expensive outfit when her water breaks. Marshall and Bo stop by for another strange interlude, whilst Katy Grin has been cast as Roxie Hart in 'Chicago'.
"Schmoozin'" - The lost Beatle tapes have been found, and Eddy's in love again, this time with an old school flame. Patsy's old sex films get released by a Japanese company including 'Boobarella'.
"Exploitin'" - Patsy has signed up baby Jane (or Lola) with an infant modelling agency, and a job has come up for a Jean Paul Gautier photo shoot at the zoo. The only problem is getting around Saffy...
"Cold Turkey" - Christmas has come again, and this time Eddy's staying home with the family. Patsy, in a moment of sheer rage, finally lets Eddy have it before mysteriously passing out. In the hospital, Patsy is told she is dying. Her wayward sister Jackie comes to visit, but does she have a more sinister motive? Is this really the end for Pats....?
AB FAB finally raises the bar after the lacklustre Series 4. Once again Jennifer Saunders has given us a hilarious, laughter-filled ride. Longtime fans rejoice: Series 5 is one to treasure!

HOSPITAL - Patsy Stone (Joanna Lumley) has got a week to look 35 for a Hello! Magazine photo shoot - cue a trip to the hospital for a face peel and eye rejuvenation.
DEATH - Edina Monsoon's (Jennifer Saunders) father is dead. But is it art?
MOROCC0 - Edina and Patsy jet off to Morocco for cheap drugs and underage sex, but with Saffy (Julia Sawalha) in tow, its going to be tough.
NEW BEST FRIEND - Lacroix and baby-spew don't mix, and Edina finds this out when old friends Bettina (Miranda Richardson) and Max (Patrick Barlow) decide to visit along with their new baby.
POOR - Harrods has stopped delivering! Call the stress guru! Edina is going to be poor, her two ex-husbands have cut her off, and Patsy is fuming. What the hell is a supermarket?!?

"The Last Shout" - In the AB-FAB timeline, this special takes place after Series 3, when Jennifer Saunders was adamant that this was to be be last-ever AB-FAB story. Eddy and Patsy take a trip to the snowfields of Val de Ser, leaving Saffy at home with her stuffy new boyfriend Paolo Carlo.
During their event-filled holiday, Eddy becomes convinced that she is Christ returned after having a near-death experience on a mountaintop where she visited God (Marianne Faithful). Patsy is evicted from her flat above the Oddbins in the Kings Road, and Mother has shacked up with some old friends in a grotty caravan.
Saffy and Paolo decide to get married, leaving Eddy to plan the wedding of the century...
"Gay" - In the AB-FAB timeline this story takes place after Series 4. Eddy discovers that her absent son Serge is gay and living in New York. Since she and Patsy are in town during Fashion Week anyway, she decides to seek him out. With the help of Goldie (Whoopi Goldberg), a lesbian marriage celebrant, Eddy and Serge are reunited...but for how long?
AB-FAB fans will relish adding these stories to their collections. Always a fantastic show!

Night Court: The Complete Third Season Review

(More customer reviews)Seasons one and two of Night Court were good, but season three begins some of the best years of the show with Markie Post joining the cast as Christine, the public defender and Florence Halop replacing Selma Diamond as one of the two bailiffs - Selma died during the summer of 1985. Christine filled what was really missing from the bill that former public defender Billy just never could deliver. Christine is who we always knew was Harry's soulmate, a fact the two of them dance around for the entire duration of the series. Beautiful, compassionate, and somewhat naive, she also makes the perfect target for Dan Fielding's leachery. Harry's soulmate was something Billy just never convinced me she could be, and she simply wasn't the type to attract Dan Fielding.
This season also marks a full turn away from the "Barney Miller" style of the first two seasons as the show turns into full scale mayhem with a courtroom as just an incidental backdrop for the parade of human oddities that come before Judge Harry Stone. This is also the first year John Astin begins to make regular appearances as someone who was married to Harry's mom after she deserted him as a child. It turns out the two met in a mental institution, but - as Astin never fails to mention - "He's feeling much better now". Astin's character at first provides a link to Harry's missing years with his mother, but in a later season he is revealed to be much more than that.
Another change that has taken place is that Dan Fielding is now portrayed as someone who has no money, when in the first season he was always going on about his substantial portfolio. Dan's desperation for both s ex and money turns him into the ultimate greed machine, yet he still retains a likability that is comparable only to the likes of Jack Carson and Daffy Duck. No wonder John Larroquette won four Emmys for his portrayal before finally retiring his name from consideration.
Quan Le returns periodically as Mac's wife. Mac is the likable and efficient clerk of the court, and Quan Le is the girl that has loved Mac since she was a girl in Vietnam and he was a soldier there. Unfortunately, she is always having troubles confusing advertising with laws - trouble that usually costs Mac money. For example she believes that "American Express - Don't Leave Home Without It" is some kind of statute.
Most humor and movies from the 80's just haven't aged very well, but this show is different. It's timeless in the way that The Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges are, and I highly recommend it.

Absolutely Fabulous: Complete Series 4 (1994) Review

(More customer reviews)Although all six episodes in this series are good, only three are really exceptional and will go down in "AbFab" history as classics. They are: "Paris" (the girls go on a vacation to Paris- Edina and Saffy actually bond, if you can believe that! It's very touching, almost!); "Small Openings" (Saffy writes a "Mommie Dearest"-esque play that Edina and Pats initially object to, but then later become friends with the people that play them! Patsy, incidentally, is played by a man!); and "Menopause" (Patsy's bones become very brittle and start breaking. Edina and Saffy's reactions when Patsy gives herself a shot of pain medication is BRILLIANTLY HILARIOUS!).
Lots of extras here: the "Mirrorball" special that features all of the main "AbFab" actors in different roles (not as funny as "AbFab" but still well worth your time); great commentary from Jennifer Saunders; photo gallery; outtakes/bloopers, etc. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that the "Who's Who Guide to the stars of AbFab" is a bit hard to read. It looks like handwriting on a piece of graph paper- and even on my gigantic television, it was a bit hard to make all of the writing out. They should have just used a font that was easier to read.
The DVD's come packaged in a plastic case, unlike the last set that came in a cardboard case. The plastic is a lot better and durable than the cardboard, so this is good! The design elements of the case are the same as the last set (it's just a different color), so at least the two sets basically match when they sit on a shelf together. It's so annoying when things in a series aren't designed likewise, so it's nice to see that Warner Bros./BBC Video did this correctly!
Oddity: all of the extras appear on both DVD's. This is not a complaint, I just thought it was sort of strange that they are repeated within the same set.
And no... "The Last Shout" does not appear on this DVD set. The rights to that are owned by a different company, hence the reason why that's not out on DVD yet.
Edina, Patsy, and Saffy are just as fab as ever! Hopefully there will be another series of episodes soon!

After four years, and many excellent reviews by other fans, it looks like we will FINALLY get our wish! I have decided to change the tone of my review from "negative" to "positive", and enhance it with episode information. My original review is still attached at the bottom, perhaps as a reminder to Warner of how unhappy we all were (and that they had better not wait another FOUR years before releasing season THREE).

Twenty Two great episodes of classic comedy! Markie Post doesn't yet become a regular cast member (you'll have to wait 'til season three). Speaking of Markie Post; fans sure would like to have the second season of "the Fall Guy" released (where she appeared from 1982-1985).
It's been a LONG wait, but it will certainly be worth it! There are still OTHER great series out there that have been treated unfairly by the studios, so this release can be seen as a bit of hope for all of us!
Three cheers for the arrival of season two!

It boggles my mind that a tv series like DOOGIE HOWSER has FOUR seasons out on DVD while a program like Night Court that ran for NINE years has only ONE!
I would never describe the folks at Warner Bros. as being "bright", after all they had an entire TV network "close shop" and merge with another failed network (UPN). I'm sure it's all a reflection of "great decision making" :)
At any rate, maybe they'll do something RIGHT for a change and release the second season of Night Court... FINALLY.
Two thumbs up for Amazon and I hope they know something that we don't know about the potential of this release.
P.S.
Just because a DVD box set of a "season one" doesn't sell as well as a production company would like doesn't mean that future releases of later seasons will not sell better or even HELP to increase sales of the first season. Also, when several seasons have been released buyers tend to be more willing to make an investment into the series as a whole. I know lots of people who wait until several seasons are out (or even an entire series) before they start buying.
If you're going to release a "season one" of a TV series on DVD you're making a promise to fans of that series. I think production companies need to wise up and realize that they will certainly make all the money they wanted if they simply make a commitment and release everything. They may not see huge numbers at the beginning... but it will all sell eventually. Also, having the product "out there" is valuable in terms of NAME RECOGNITION for the production company. It will help the Warner Bros. NAME to have high quality and COMPLETE series in the DVD marketplace. Night Court is one of those series.JM
