(More customer reviews)Freely adapted from its Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada-penned comic book origins and stylings, Painkiller Jane is definitely not the worst original series to hit the Sci-Fi Channel, and is good mindless fun for what it's worth. Terminator 3 and Bloodrayne hottie Kristanna Loken is Jane Vasco; a DEA agent that is recruited by a government agency. She now finds herself hunting genetically altered and enhanced criminals, or "Neuros", and soon discovers that she too has some strange abilities of her own, including the ability to heal from any injury. Throughout this first (and only) season of Painkiller Jane, Jane and her crew hunt these superpowered individuals, which leads to plenty of banter, fighting, and explosions. There really isn't much else to the show other than that, as things pretty much get wrapped up as the series comes to a close with Jane's allegiance coming into question. Loken, who was basically eye candy in Terminator 3 and had the thankless lead role in Bloodrayne, is pretty wooden throughout the series. She looks quite good though, and the supporting cast, namely Noah Danby as Connor and Sean Owen Roberts as Riley, are pretty good. That being said, you pretty much know what you're getting with Painkiller Jane. It doesn't strike the gold that other Sci-Fi shows like Farscape, The Invisible Man, or The Dresdin Files did and does, but it is mindless, entertaining fun that sadly never got the chance to really grow on what it set up before getting the axe. All in all, if you're a fan of the comic and missed out on the show when it aired on Sci-Fi, Painkiller Jane is worth a look, but don't expect much out of it.

(More customer reviews)"Wreaked" shows aspiring actor Ryan (Theo Montgomery) allowing his career and life to be sabotaged by the torch he carries for a druggie ex-boyfriend, Daniel, who ran out of his life at least once before.
Ryan lands his first role with a acting group and celebrates by getting off on a web-clip by hustler Taylor (name from the commentary). Shortly thereafter Ryan comes home and finds the ex-Daniel waiting on the veranda. Happy Ryan is willing to take Daniel back if he gets a job and stops taking drugs. Daniel charms and agrees, stifling any further conversation with kisses and more. Ryan's life starts sliding downhill, and his job performance suffers. Taylor the hustler turns out to be a pal of Daniel's too, leading to an explicit three-way. To make the point clear, there is a photography student, who gets roped into first Daniel's and then Ryan's game. Ryan's life drifts out of control. He knows what to do but just loses the will to do it.
The DVD comes with a commentary by the two directors and Theo Montgomery, a deleted scene, an extended mixture of scenes, a photo gallery, and some TLA trailers.
The film gives a serious, focused depiction of the problems of unsuitable partners and of drugs and also gives a reasonably realistic and frequent display of bodies engaged in sex and in the incidentals of daily life. The actors are very good looking; Theo Montgomery as Ryan is spectacularly cute looking and did a good job as the makeup person (source: the commentary) on the set.
The production has multiple weaknesses. The sets generally shriek cheap, not always unsuitably. For example, the one window in Ryan's house is covered with a sheet. The sound ranges from clear to faint. The film stock is fairly grainy. There are a number of continuity lapses. For example, in one sequence Ryan goes to bed shirtless, wakes up early in one t-shirt, and then gets out of bed in another. The supporting actors were undistinguished. The commentary says the photographer's name is Rodney, but the character introduces himself as Tyler to Daniel. The commentary states that much of the character-development footage was cut out (but not included as an extra; there are photos in the gallery that probably came from these sequences).
The credits give some actor names and the co-directors' names but none other. There is no listing matching character and actor. I can't find the names given listed on imbd.com; are they all pseudonyms? It appears nobody wants to be identified too much with the film, although the directors suggested a prequel was possible.
Still, the film was a good entry in the underused category of serious film that wants to display serious skin. The ads suggest this is a film for lovers of twinks. They're right.

They are plunged into a world full of intrigue,secrets and romance,when the towns sinister supernatural past comes to life.
I saw these first 2 episodes when they aired and it is pretty much a gothic soap transported to today.A fun show with enough storyline to be entertaining with a gorgeous cast showing a lot of bare skin to enjoy.
In a nutshell,about 100 years ago a sorceress named Grace, played by Tracy Scoggins (anyone remember her from the Dynasty spinoff, The Colbys?)finds out her one true love is gay and like any demon will do,seeks revenge.She imprisons Ambrosius and he is held captive until modern times when he is accidentally released from his chains by a kiss from Kevin,the hotels newest resident.Now the past and the present collide as Grace and Ambrosius continue their feud and the residents of the hotel pay the price.True love battles to overcome the forces of evil and Kevin may be the first victim.
Will Kevin find true love with Toby?or will Ambrosius claim Kevin for himself?
Will good triumph over evil?or will Grace have her final revenge?
At least now I can watch the rest of the series once it airs in september and maybe I'll find out.

Cruel Intentions 2 (2001) Review

(More customer reviews)Now, I liked the first CRUEL INTENTIONS starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (it was entertaining in a sick, twisted kind of way, and the production values were great), but I didn't even know they made a sequel until I saw this on cable! Well, after watching it, now I know why I've heard nothing about it. This was apparently supposed to be a television series called "Manchester Prep", but it's clear why it was rejected -- the subject matter is just too risque. There's more gratuitous nudity and sexual innuendo in Cruel Intentions 2 than in the original film.
This movie stunk worse than a New York subway car in August without any air conditioning. You thought the lesbian kiss scene in the first movie was a little over the top? Man, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Cruel Intentions 2 is really nothing but a soft-porn B-movie. The first movie was a "modern retelling" of the "classic" story Dangerous Liaisons. Cruel Intentions 2 is a "prequel" that leaves almost no taboo unexplored. Since this is a "family" site, I will not go into any graphic detail here. Suffice it to say that virgin eyes should not behold what transpires in this movie (Scenes like an innocent freshman girl getting aroused while learning to ride a horse, twins in a shower, Valmont's stepmother giving him a massage...you get the idea).
Anyway, consider this a public service announcement: beware if you turn on your tv and are flipping through the cable channels and you come across a little movie called CRUEL INTENTIONS 2. Or if you see this on your videostore shelf. Or if you were thinking of buying this film. The production values and the acting and the story are nowhere near as good as the original. You might find some of the nudity and erotic content enjoyable if you're looking for that sort of thing... ...You have been warned.
