(More customer reviews)For those who so thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 of Kyle XY, Season 2 continues the story with some new twists and new characters, while wrapping up loose threads from Season 1. After the death of his mentor, Adam Baylin, Kyle returns to the Trager family, who keenly felt his absence.
Kyle continues to work on developing his abilities under the tutelage of Tom Foss (Nicholas Lea, Alex Krycek on "The X-Files"), while keeping his activities secret, which strains his relationship with his newly adopted family. He also pursues a relationship with Amanda, the neighbor girl he doted on in Season 1.
However, in Season 2, Kyle is no longer the only one of his kind. Shortly before a bomb takes out the laboratory where Kyle was created, a female like him emerges from her pod and runs wild in Seattle, until the company that created her reprograms her into Jessi, Kyle's friend/enemy. She is almost his complete opposite, unafraid to even kill.
The Trager family's lives remain interesting as well, as Steven is hired by the very company controlling Jessi, Lori and Declan's relationship is strained by Declan's keeping Kyle's secrets, Nicole provides therapy to Jessi, and Josh reaches the age of 16, and gets a girlfriend named Andy (yes, she's a girl!) who is suffering from a serious illness, which inspires Josh to do a lot of growing up in this season, while still maintaining his singular wit.
The longer season allows for more dramatic storytelling, leading up to a startling cliffhanger, which begins on TV in January. Interesting timing for the release, eh?
But for all that Kyle learns in this season, it seems clear that he has barely begun to scratch the surface, and may always be attempting to answer the tagline question: Who is Kyle XY?

(More customer reviews)Eli Stone has touched the hearts of many fans worldwide, especially here in Australia. Season 1 had revolved around a range of George Michael songs and some very deep soul-searching for Eli. And Season 2 continued just that, without the George Michael but with more twists and visions that hit Eli very close to home.
The excellent acting by Jonny Lee Miller and the whole cast makes the show feel that much more unique, especially with the sometimes hilarious quotes by Loretta Devine, the wise and very talented Victor Garber, the cheeky character of Sam Jaeger and the beautiful women Natasha Henstridge and Julie Gonzalo, and also not forgetting James Saito as the sort-of Chinese acupuncturist.
Season 2 is the final outing of Eli Stone, and many viewers will have many questions unanswered. However, we do know that Elis visions in Season 1 answer some of those questions [check through them and you'll see what I mean!]. It is a pity that ABC couldn't punt one more breath in for Eli Stone but the DVD has been long awaited.
If you liked Eli Stone Season 1, dig into your pockets for Season 2, and you will not regret it. If you got into Season 2, I recommend taking a step back and discovering the whole story. And if you're reading this without having watched a second of it, try an episode. It will leave you feeling like you gotta have faith.

According to Jim: The Complete First Season Review

(More customer reviews)I had been waiting a long time to get the first season of According to Jim. I can't understand why there are other shows that are not so good but come out sooner. This one (and Just Shoot Me!) had taken a long time.
If you saw the show you know what it is all about. The Special Features are good, specially the part where Jim tells us the inside about the show, the characters and even the set up and mementos by the fridge that remind everyone one the set about their families and loved ones.
My only regret is that I finished watching the whole season already and there isn't even a date for the second season or a way to subscribe -like they always have here at Amazon- to be notified when it will come out.
Don't miss it. It's funny! Jim and his brother in law make a great pair. I like the fact that unlike other family sitcoms, Jim does wrong most of the time but you don't actually blame him but empathize with him because he is a regular guy not pretending to be "perfect... husband or father" but instead, the everyday family man that makes mistakes and has fun ... messing things up. I LOVE IT!

The first episode named "GOLIATH" features Wilton Knight's evil son Garthe and a monstrous 18-Wheeler truck named "Goliath". This season also includes the sequel "Goliath Returns". Many other quality episodes are also included in this set that established KR as one of the best shows of the 1980s. Unfortunately this set, unlike the last, does not have any extras or bonuses. This is too bad because there's alot of behind-the-scenes material regarding the episode "GOLIATH" that I wouldve loved to seen. I am mad about Universal's lack of bonuses on their DVD sets, it seems that bonus material is not a priority. Too bad because I would've paid an extra few dollars to get a bonus disc that had "Goliath" on it. I give this review 5 stars for the episodes only. The DVD set deserves only 4, after all even though we get stiffed by the lack of bonuses the casing is well put together, I only wish the bonuses were included.Even though some of the original music has been deleted/altered it doesnt affect this set too much like it did the second season of Quantum Leap, after all unlike QL the music on KR was generic to begin with. Still Universal's lack of obtaining the rights of some songs is annoying and strips originality away from a classic series. Despite this any KR fan needs to own the most action-packed season of KR.

Ghost Hunters - Season 2, Part 1 (2004) Review

(More customer reviews)Big Vision, the company responsible for putting out "Ghost Hunters: Season 2, Parts 1 and 2" and "Ghost Hunters: Season 1," still have a long way to go with the production quality of their discs, but they definitely listen to their customers and attempt to make corrections. For starters, they've hulked up the DVD cases for Season 2, making it virtually impossible for the discs to become dislodged during shipping. This was a major complaint of many folks of Season 1's release. Secondly, the picture has gotten better. Granted, it's not perfect, and it's still too grainy during the investigations to see everything that's going on, but it has improved slightly. Finally, the audio is okay. As stated before, there is still plenty of space for changes and improvements, but Big Vision seems to be taking its customers advice to heart.
Now, on to Season 2, Part 1, in which we find Jason and Grant and the rest of the TAPS team seeking out more ghosts or lack thereof. This particular set includes one of my favorite cases: Myrtles Plantation. They also revisit Eastern State Penitentiary and tackle the Rolling Hills Asylum, the wacky Winchester House, and the U.S.S. North Carolina.
TAPS has always managed to impress me with their professionalism. Search any number of "ghost hunting" websites and you'll see that many of them are nothing more than a bunch of teen and college-aged kids hanging out in the graveyard or trespassing onto abandoned property. TAPS takes the paranormal very seriously. It almost takes an act of God to make them label a location as haunted. When they do, you can rest assured that they've done everything in their power to debunk a ghost's existence.
I highly recommend this DVD set, as well as Part 2 of Season 2 and the first season. You'll be impressed at how the TAPS team takes time to explain what an EMF detector is, what "orbs" are and probably aren't, and how something as simple as a mirror can play tricks on your mind.
Another great thing about this particular set is in the deleted scenes area where Brian is confronted by a woman and called a few derogatory terms. It's fun at the expense of Brian, but let's face it, Brian's just a funny guy.
"Dude, Run!!!"

(More customer reviews)I was soo happy to get Sabrina the Teenage witch, I was just super exitied! It was my favorite TV show for so many years...but i was so disapointed with the DVDs! They cut stuff out!!! I recorded them on VHS off the TV so i could watch them way back when it first aired, so i have been re-watching them on VHS for years, and I was mad when the TV station cut stuff out, But to put it onto DVD with the stuff cut out, that is WRONG! I am so MAD! I looked forward to haveing the entire episodes...but I have the TV cuts of it. This sucks. They cut out some of my favorite parts
For example, in Witchs Licance part 2, Hild, Zelda, and Salem go to the other realm to get a lab top. Remember that? And Hilda got into an argument with a kid to push a button that said, 'Don't Push'. So it was hard to get the joke that came next at the house.
You may think that it is so little, but since it was my favorite TV show, it hurts. It majorly sucks. I feel like i got a ripped off copy of it out of a guys jacket in an ally. I am actully about in tears over this. This rediculous!

Whose Line Is It Anyway: Season 1, Vol. 1 and 2 (Uncensored) (1998) Review

(More customer reviews)Drew Carey hosts the hilarious "Whose Line is it Anyway" (adapted from a British show of the same name). In this show, four actor/comedians (usually Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady, Ryan Stiles, and a "wildcard") act out improvisational comedy skits.
These skits are hilarious! My wife and I will sometimes be in tears laughing at these incredibly skilled actors who can do amazing improvisational comedy. They also have a great rapport with each other, which is probably the key to the show.
That being said, the first season doesn't quite live up to the later seasons. Some of the skits ("games") were a bit lame and not that funny - it's as if the writers were still searching for the best ideas for the show. And don't get excited about the "Uncensored" label, because little if anything in this season was actually censored, so you won't see anything that you haven't already seen.
Still, it's a side-splittingly funny show with a fabulous cast and should be must-buy for anyone.

Season two starts off with a bang and keeps on delivering. There are lots twist and turns as Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) manipulates everyone and everything around him to uncover the truth behind the murders.
The story lines are better than ever and manage to develop the background, personalities, and lives of the main characters. We get insight into the childhood issues that drive both Jane and Cho. We get pulled in deeper as we watch the relationships between the characters grow and develop. The chemistry between Jane and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) continues to grow and the energy between them is electric.
This is the one show on TV where there is so much misdirection and redirection that guessing the ending isn't probable, even when all the info is sitting right in front of you.
If you're looking for excellent performances, spectacular writing, and a show where you can't predict what's coming next then this is definitely a show you want to watch.

Star Trek: The Original Series - Season Two Review

(More customer reviews)Ever since I watched the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" back in 1996 and saw the classic Enterprise displayed with modern effects, I dreamed about one day seeing the entire Orignal Series retouched in such a magnificent way. 10 years later, that dream came true. Granted, the series does still retain that 60's feel (especially with the bombastic style of the music, and of course the "military uniform" mini-skirts), there was so much of it that made for great television even for today. The effects being updated really gives the series credibility and believability for viewers and allows the original series to fit in properly with all the incarnations that came afterward. Bringing it to High-Definition was truly a great idea, and the live-action image quality is drastically improved, so much so that at times it gives the series an entirely new feel!
Agreed by both casual viewers as well as die-hard fans, the second season of "Star Trek" provides us with a multitude of favorite episodes. Two episodes in particular that are given excellent treatment and incredible updating are "The Doomsday Machine" and "The Immunity Syndrome". "The Doomsday Machine", next to "The City on the Edge of Forever" is considered one of the best from the Original Series, even in its unrefined form. The updating on this episode put it into near movie-quality, far surpassing many Star Trek episodes, includng many from other spin-off series, and even perhaps a couple of the motion pictures. An interesting effect, to me, was how the remastering of "The Immunity Syndrome" made a not-so-great episode into a spectacular episode! The 1966 effects were good at the time, but the remastering gives it a whole new sense of realism and scope. Other classic episodes like "Amok Time", "The Trouble With Tribbles", and "Mirror, Mirror" are given good treatments, also.
As of August 6th, I've purchased this set and have been thoroughly enjoying it as much as I knew I would. One of the most common complaints of one-star reviewers is that this season, unlike the previous season's release, is ONLY on DVD, not on Blu-ray or even HD-DVD. Don't let that discourage you. Even in this standard DVD version, Star Trek is given new life unlike ever before. This DVD's visual quality is far better than any previous releases, especially since that this is a down-conversion of the cleaned-up High-Definition source. On a regular 480i/p CRT TV, it looks superb. On an HDTV, a good 1080p DVD up-converter will give you an excellent picture from the DVD; granted of course, it will not be the same as an HD release (no up-converter can do that, but they can get close). The truth of it is that this DVD will be better than what you can see on broadcast TV. I've even noticed that the standard DVD quality is better than the "HD" TV broadcasts.
There have also been those who have wondered what Gene Roddenberry would have thought of this rebuffing of the series. To answer that, here is a segment from an interview with the executive producers of the remastered project on that very question:
"What do you think Gene Roddenberry would think of the remastered effects?
Dave Rossi: When Gene passed away and his estate requested that all memos and paperwork from the Original Series through TNG be turned over, I was the person whose job it was to wade through 27 years of material. One theme that popped up with some regularity in Gene's memos was "What can we do to improve the visual effects?" While that alone isn't an answer, the support the Roddenberry family and people like Bob Justman have shown during this project really reinforces the notion that Gene was always striving to improve the effects to help bring the world of Star Trek alive. We're honored to help fulfill that wish.
Mike Okuda: We had a number of long talks with Matt Jefferies before he died. For understandable reasons, Matt was one of our heroes. He was inwardly very proud of his work on Star Trek, but he was always very apologetic for the limitations of 1960s production techniques. He kept saying how he wished he had the technology that was developed after the show ended. We always responded by reminding him that his designs were a major reason why the show remains successful and watchable to this day. At the same time, it convinced us that he would have been the first to stand in line to update his own work, if he had been able."
Bottom Line -- If you are willing to wait for the Blu-ray versions, that's fine. I'm not. As a lover of the Original Series, it's just too good to pass up. My hat's off to to all those who participated in this extraordinary remastering effort and for turning a dream of mine into reality.

(More customer reviews)This show is fun fun fun. What else can I say. The second season is even better than the first. Fran Drescher is an absolute riot and a very funny lady. I've watched this season with friends who have never seen The Nanny and they loved it, thought it was so very funny. I email my friend in London all the time and talk about the episodes we love and when he comes home we always have to watch The Nanny. The things they got away with on that show are hilarious. Can't wait for season 3.

(More customer reviews)In the midst of this television season's coverage of "Lost"'s fall from grace and eventual comeback and the big waves made by "Heroes", not to mention the slew of increasingly brazen reality TV saturating the market this gem of a show got lost in the shuffle. Season one was a solid start for the show, full of monster-and-hottie-of-the-week stories that stood alone while very slowly giving us an inkling of a larger plot at work before ending with a glorious cliffhanger. The music was wonderful, the guest stars brilliant, and the homages to classic and modern horror were thick. If you missed it, now's the time to catch up because season two is a winner in every possible way. The first episode is among the greatest season openers I've ever had the pleasure of viewing and it shakes this show to it's very core and sets the tone for the entire year's events. From there, Sam and Dean set out to get revenge for their deceased family members and save as many people as they can along the way. Second verse, same as the first, right? Well, no, not quite. We still get our monsters-of-the-week and our cute guest stars and our classic rock soundtrack, but the tone of this season is so much darker and the events so traumatic that the stakes just seem to be on a whole other level. Friendships are made and broken, loyalties are tested, long-standing beliefs are challenged, all three Winchesters fight for their very souls, and almost nobody's getting out whole. This season is a tooth-and-nail battle for survival and while it still has a hefty dose of the humor that made the first season so much fun, it's obvious that this show is no longer just playing around at having a larger plot. This is the real deal. Among the baddies met along the way are more vampires (one played by an almost unrecongnizable Amber Benson of "Buffy" fame), a rogue hunter, a living dead girl, a female werewolf (in the most heart-wrenching episode of any show I've seen this season), a deal-making demon for those who remember the legend of Robert Johnson, some of Sam's fellow "gifted" children (we do learn their secret), and a Norse trickster god to name a few. The music, if anything, has gotten better this season and so have the guest stars. My favorite guest performance has got to be the loveable Katherine Isabel from cult-classic werewolf flick "Ginger Snaps" who shows up twice and inspires adoration in every frame she's in. If you missed this show on the CW, shame on you; now buy this set. If you missed the first season buy that set too. This show is so good I'd hate to see it die because nobody bothered to watch it for themselves. These kinds of shows are notoriously short-lived and the television big-wigs have little patience for them so when one of this caliber gets on the air and stays on the air, we need to keep it that way in every way we can. Support horror, sci-fi, and fantasy television now, and we'll be rewarded with more later. I hope.

Instead, I'll let you know that this was the 1973-1974 season, and it consists of the following episodes:

MOTEL A pretty girl is after Bob.
BACKLASH Bob throws his back out just before a planned Mexican vacation.
SOMEBODY DOWN HERE LIKES ME A reverend takes Bob's advice...and it backfires.

If you like to collect TV shows that were ahead of its time and therefore, didn't last, this is one to add to your collection.
If you like edgy detective shows, this is one to add to your collection.
If you like breakout performances, this is one to add to your collection.
