We Love Our Family is the latest children's DVD featuring the loveable, gentle purple dinosaur Barney and his playful friends, as they celebrate the joys of family togetherness. A wholesome viewing experience that reminds young people about the importance of moms, dads, grandparents, and cousins, We Love Our Family is an especially appropriate gift for youngsters as the traditional Thanksgiving season approaches (though the program itself is not meant to be seasonal, but rather enjoyed year-round). Bonus features include a "Dino Dress-Up" game and a "Welcome, Cousin Riff" featurette. An excellent choice for parents and public library children's DVD collections.

Barney: The Best of Barney Review

A cynical mishmash of clips to celebrate (the latter part of) Barney's last twenty years. Highlights weak songs and weaker "new" characters. The scenes at the circus border on creepy. They're is even a hip-hop version of "Baa, Baa Black Sheep".....groan! Ignore the neat packaging and go find instead DVDs from the "Classic Barney" collection -- titles like "Barney Rhyme Time", "Lets play school" and "outdoor fun". The shows don't feel dated and they were made with a great deal more care.

Sing & Dance With Barney Review

Sing and Dance With Barney

My one year old daughter loves this Barney video more so than the other Barney videos we have. This video is a delight to watch because it has beautiful props, costumes, and backgrounds. My daughter enjoys all the familiar Barney songs and the video keeps her attention from beginning to end because there isn't much of a "lull" between songs. It is one song and dance after another. I enjoyed seeing the "reunion" of old cast members with the new cast members. This video is more of an entertainment video than it is an instructional one. We watch it everyday after breakfast! My husband and I catch ourselves singing Barney tunes throughout the day!

Elmopalooza (1998) Review

If you are buying this video for your little Elmo fan, think again. Elmo hardly appears at all; it's mostly popular groups singing songs with a few muppets thrown in. I think it's a good video, but it's not really at my 12-month-old son's level. He wants non-stop Elmo action, not people singing. This might be better for the 4-6 year old crowd.

HIT Favorites: Trick or Treat Tales Review

Trick or Treat Tales is the perfect DVD for toddlers and preschoolers. I thought perhaps because of the title that it may be a bit more scary but I should have known better.
With lovable characters like Barney, Thomas and Fifi...it was not the least bit scary or worrisome.
My girls found it enjoyable and quietly watch the show with me while explaining who each character was exactly.
While my daughters enjoyed it...I believe the Trick or Treat Tales DVD is best for children five and under. All the cartoons were adorable and fun story lines but they may be a bit to passive for older children.
My personal favorite was Fifi and the Flowertots...she is a cutie! This is great alternative video for Halloween if you have little ones that are too small to trick or treat late into the night.
Fun characters, cute story lines...perfect for popped corn and family time.HIT Favorites: Trick or Treat Tales

Barney: Sharing Is Caring Review

barney sharing is caring
WHAT DOES THE IE MOMMY THINK?:
Barney is one of those characters who you can trust to teach your children the benefit of goodness, kindness, friendship and loyalty.
The IE Twins were very excited about the concept of the Sharing is Caring Video as we recently just took a lot of items to donate to a local Fireman's event.
The behaviour displayed by Baby Bop as she reluctantly (initially) did not want to part with her precious treasures demonstrated to the girls the benefit of selflessness as Baby Bop eventually realized that sharing was truly showing you cared.
Barney explains concepts like "being a good neighbor", "sharing" and "listening" in a way that toddlers and bigger kids can understand.
Sharing is Caring is a great video to introduce to your child to reinforce what we, as parents, try to teach them daily. Barney: Sharing Is Caring!

Barney: Book Fair Review

Barney: Book Fair

Once again Barney has done a fantastic job teaching our children "living" skills that will help them on the playground, in school and in real life interaction with friends and family.
As a big proponent of reading and using one's imagination. I enjoyed the concept behind Barney's Book Fair.
Every time I think that my girls have "out grown" the big purple dinosaur I am pleasantly surprised to find him and his friends creating a new experience or teaching a new lesson that will intrigue and sustain my daughters' attention.
The book that accompanies the DVD is nicely illustrated and will help your child learn to count. Barney videos are truly a staple of childhood.Barney: Book Fair
