Renowned journalist Ted Koppel conducted a series of interviews with former Sociology professor Morrie Schwartz during the last year of his life after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). This series is among the most requested and widely discussed Nightline series of the last 25 years. Watching the night they aired was Schwartz’s former student and sportswriter Mitch Albom who was then inspired to reconnect with his former professor and write the best-selling book Tuesdays With Morrie.

Yo-Yo Girl Cop Review

Yo-Yo Girl Cop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
YO YO GIRL COP is the English language release title for SUKEBAN DEKA: CODENAME ASAMIYA SAKI, a 2006 Japanese movie based on the original "Sukeban Deka" series detailing the exploits of female special agents operating undercover in high school. The new film is something of a sequel to the 1985 TV series, insofar as the main character, Saki Asamiya, is presented as the daughter of the original "Sukeban Deka" (delinquent girl cop), also codenamed Saki Asamiya, and played in this film by the TV actress who played the part in 1985, Yuki Saito.
What's special about this film version is the casting of four Japanese female pop singers from Hello! Project in the main roles, all of whom do extraordinary jobs. Solo artist Aya Matsuura, one of H!P's greatest talents, plays Saki, while Rika Ishikawa, formerly of Morning Musume and current lead singer of the trio, Biyuuden, plays Saki's chief antagonist, Reika Akiyama. The two girls generally display adorably sweet and sunny dispositions in their J-pop day jobs and have appeared together in games, contests and fun bits over the years on Morning Musume's TV show, "Hello Morning," but are called on here to play unrelenting tough girls, complete with climactic yo-yo battle, and do so with utmost spirit and conviction. The supporting roles of Tae and Kotomi, two girls bullied by Reika and her gang, are filled by Rika's sidekicks in Biyuuden, Yui Okada and Erika Miyoshi, both appearing in their very first film. They provide the film's emotional core by playing wounded souls whose victimization brings to the fore the criminal plot behind a website ominously named "Enola Gay" and designed to attract suicidal teens and promote a wave of suicide bombings. It's Saki's job to get to the bottom of all this and she takes the two bullied girls under her wing in a series of extremely touching scenes.
The heavy melodramatic tone (which matches that of the original TV series) may put off viewers expecting a more tongue-in-cheek, over-the-top style of anime-inspired Japanese action a la CUTIE HONEY, a live-action comic book superhero spectacle from 2004. This one is much more somber and a bit slow in getting to the far-fetched fight scenes that a film like this needs. The final yo-yo battle between Aya and Rika, filmed on location in a sprawling abandoned factory in winter weather, is quite a sight to behold, but one wishes a Hong Kong action director with a more imaginative touch and greater experience with female fighters (paging Corey Yuen!), had been brought in for the action scenes.
Still, if one feels sympathy for the basic situation of a damaged soul like Saki pulling herself together to serve a greater good and redeem herself by smashing a cynical plot to manipulate vulnerable teens, one can find this a reasonably gripping high school-themed thriller. And those who are already fans of Aya Matsuura and Rika Ishikawa can simply sit back and marvel at this whole new side of them.
One of the great attractions of this DVD is the inclusion of a special 41-minute feature, "Yo Yo Girl Mission," which chronicles the making of the film and the process by which two endearing J-pop idols are transformed into karate-kicking bad girls and mortal enemies. One can see their normal "amiable" selves in conflict with the "menacing" behavior required of the characters, leading to frequent breakups into laughter during shooting and a charming bit at a press conference where Aya cutely chides Rika for such laughter. And when the petite and eager-to-please Aya insists on doing her own stunts and gets rigged with cables for a "wire-fu" maneuver, it just increases our high regard and admiration for her. She's also seen in a dual interview alongside Yuki Saito, who plays her mother in the film, but shares no scenes with her. The two even compare their yo-yos.
Aya is heard on the soundtrack singing two songs with Miki Fujimoto, another ex-member of Morning Musume and Aya's partner in the H!P duo, GAM.

A Prairie Home Companion (2006) Review

A Prairie Home Companion (2006)
Average Reviews:

I wish I'd said this: A Prairie Home Companion is a lovely film about death, and with some great bad jokes. Death and how we deal with it drifts through the film like a dream, but it turns out to be real. Word has gotten around that the 30-year-old radio program is giving its last show. The theater where it has been broadcast from all these years has been sold and will be turned into a parking lot. A woman in a white trench coat moves dream-like through the place, searching for a person whose time has come, and then finds him. And then she finds another. Memories of past successes are talked about, but sometimes not. Reminiscences are wept over or laughed over. The backstage emergencies happen and are dealt with and the radio show goes on. It's just a marvelous movie. People who dislike the actual A Prairie Home Companion will probably not like this movie. Those who do like the radio show I'm sure are going to run out and buy the DVD of the movie as soon as it's available.
Garrison Keillor is not center stage so much as he's the imperturbable head guy who isn't always there, even when he's there. Most of the regular members of the radio show are present, as well as some new names. Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep are incredibly authentic and incredibly funny/poignant as the two remaining members, Rhonda and Yolanda Johnson, of a country-music family singing group. Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly are great as the dim cowboys, Lefty and Dusty. Their bad-jokes song is one of the highlights. Guy Noir looking like Kevin Kline tries to keep a lid on the crises. Streep and Tomlin (and Harrelson and Reilly) sing their own stuff and they are first class. Tomlin, in particular, gives a terrific performance as Rhonda, tough, funny, a little bitter and a trooper.
After 105 minutes you may find death not too frightening, may find a kind of comforting acceptance of life, and may find funny some awful jokes...like the name of the country song Lefty sang on last week's show, "I'll Give You My Moonshine If You Show Me Your Jugs." Or a great new wheezer, "Did you hear about the crate of Viagra that was stolen?" "No! Who took it?" "The cops don't know but they're looking for hardened criminals."
I also wish I'd said this, from the New York Times: A Prairie Home Companion isn't great, it's wonderful.

Six Feet Under - The Complete Fourth Season (2001)

For some strange reason unbeknownst to me, many people seem to find this season "too depressing," "slow," "boring," etc, etc. I'm in complete disagreement with this.
In my opinion, while the season is a bit darker than the last three, it perfects the morbid, slightly-depressed and slightly-humourous tone the series always had. A little less humor, yes. A little more drama, you bet. But why is that such a bad thing when the drama is so good?
Personal highlights: When David finds unrelenting terror in "That's My Dog," Claire and her high antics with her artsy friends in "Terror Starts at Home," and the sinister atmosphere in most of the season finale "Untitled."
Highly recommended.

Remember Me (2010) Review

Remember Me (2010)

It's hard to escape spoilers these days and while I tried, eventually one caught up with me. Knowing something about the ending and reading the mixed reviews I found myself interested in seeing if Robert Pattinson could act but wondering if this is the right vehicle and whether I wanted to see it. Then I came across an interview with the screenwriter. I pretty much knew the ending before I saw the movie and in a strange way it made the watching even more meaningful since the ending isn't as important as how the film gets there and what it says along the way.
I was plesantly surprised that even tho RP was in nearly every scene I didn't feel this was a vehicle for him but rather a character and relationship study. I expected him to be much more brooding and dark based on what I'd read. I'd like to see him stretch and tackle a variety of roles; I was plesantly surprised at his performance here. Somehow his leading man persona blended into the ensemble more than I expected and gave coherence to the movie. The relationship between Tyler (RP) and his younger sister was particulaly touching. I give RP a lot of credit being able to step into his character and let the assorted relationships surrounding him shine.
This movie will resonate with anyone who's lost someone unexpectely and how we each find ways to go on and live our lives. I found it a study of real people in "real" situations. The plot was somewhat predictable. How the unfolding was handled kept me interested. Being an exNYer, the city and surroundings resonated with me regardless of the ending and clued me into where the movie was going in several places.
Remembering back to my early 20s, it was a very hard time even without loss, for the first time being without structure and trying to find my path in life, not easy in the best of times. Watching so many different people finding ways to cope with senseless loss created a focus on the importance of living and loving every day.
I really appreciated the sensitive handling of the ending. The minimalist way of dealing with the horror had a lot of impact for me. Unexpected tragedy can be part of life. The clues are there all thru the movie. I mostly was haunted by the actual ending and how it tied to the beginning. How healing can come even from great saddness when life is lived with love.

Six Feet Under - The Complete Second Season (2001)
Average Reviews:

If you haven't seen Season One, stop reading this right now and go watch it. You're in for a real treat, as 6FU is one of the most well-written TV dramas ever.
If you watched Season Two when it originally aired and are considering purchasing this set, you should know that the DVD extras are not plentiful. Several of the 13 episodes have optional commentaries you can listen to while you're watching the episode; I find this is a big investment of time for a small payoff, but that's just me. Plus, the last disc contains a short documentary "anatomy of a stiff," which is worth watching once, but not really that compelling. Another factor that might affect your purchase decision is that the episodes themselves are rich and stand up to repeated viewings, unlike most of the tripe on television. Plus, watching the episodes on DVD - on YOUR schedule - makes for a much better experience than waiting a week or more between episodes as they are aired on HBO.
If you've seen Season One but not Season Two yet, the best indicator of whether you'll like Two is how much you liked One. Yes, it's true, fans disagree over which of the first two seasons was better. But the overwhelming majority that liked One a lot also liked Two a lot.
I think both of the first two seasons were EXCELLENT, but a bit different. Almost every episode of the first season was very good or excellent. The second season had the same average quality as the first season, but more variability - that is, a few episodes or storylines were a bit weaker than what we typically saw in Season One, but other episodes and storylines were even better than those in Season One. The last two episodes of Season Two rank among the best television I've ever seen.
I will try to set up the events of Season Two without giving anything away. At the end of Season One, Nate was coming to grips with a newly diagnosed brain condition that could cause seizures, or even a stroke and death. Nate and Brenda had declared their love for each other, despite a fairly complicated and sometimes rocky relationship. David was single and struggling in his love life, and coming to terms with being "out." He and Keith were still friends, and it was clear that they still had feelings for each other. These storylines are developed further in Season Two, with many interesting twists and turns along the way. Of course, there are also storylines involving Ruth and Claire. Ruth's growth in Season Two is nonlinear - she seems to make progress in one episode, but then reverts back to her depressed, repressed, controlling self in the next. Claire has interesting relationships with different people, each of which shapes her in some way, good or bad, and she gets a bit of direction in her life toward the end of Season Two.
One of the things that makes 6FU so great is that it's so real. The characters are 3-dimensional, flawed, and (mostly) likeable. Whenever I watch the show after not having seen it for a month or more, it's like getting together again with old friends. I also respect the show for taking seriously the issues of religion and minority sexual orientation (Amazon.com has previously censored me for using the word that begins with "h"). Half of the main characters are religious, and their views are treated very respectfully. One or two of the main characters are g__ (again trying to avoid the censor) and they are portrayed as real people, with the same joys and sorrows and problems as straight folks.
Bottom line: If you haven't seen 6FU season two yet, you are in for a real treat. Be patient through the first two episodes, though, as their slightly lower quality is not representative of the rest of this outstanding season.

Six Feet Under: The Complete First Season (2001) Review

Six Feet Under: The Complete First Season (2001)

This is a watershed series in American television. HBO, which has created some of the best written and realisticly in-your-face programming in the history of television (the Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Oz) has re-written what is possible on the small screen with Six Feet Under.
The first season of the series deals with issues such as death, drug use, homosexuality, family alienation, mental illness, divorce, bankrupcy, co-dependency and incest. The amazing part is that it NEVER comes across like a soap opera or ABC Afterschool Special. It is very real, and moving.
Alan Ball, the extraordinary writer of the film "American Beauty" writes and directs this tour de force in television excellence. While this show is not for everyone, if you enjoyed Ball's previous work, you no doubt will love this show as much as the critics and millions of fans have. I think the Sopranos and Six Feet Under are reason enough to get HBO.
Ball creates multi-layered, complex characters for this ensemble cast, and allows them to develop throughout the season. What you see up front is not always what you get in the end.
For the price, I would have liked some extra features, like behind the scenes or a "making of" featurette, or interviews with the stars. Many of those are already available on HBO's website, I don't think it would have killed them to include a little extra for the {price}. However, that being said, you are paying {much} for 13 HOURS of entertainment. That is fairly in line with the 2 hour movie average price on DVD. And this is INFINITELY better than 99.999% of the movies that have come out in the last 10 years.
Buy it, enjoy it, and wait patiently for the next season...coming soon.

Wit (2001) Review

Wit (2001)

This brilliant adaptation of Margaret Edison's Pulitzer Prize winning play is simply superb. Beautifully directed by Mike Nichols, it is peppered with superlative performances by its cast. It is almost hard to believe that this profoundly moving and poignant film was released for HBO, rather than as a major box office, big screen release.
Tautly written, this remarkable film focuses on an intense and brilliant professor of English, forty-eight year old Vivian Bearing (Emma Thompson), whose academic focus has been metaphysical poetry. She has just been diagnosed by a noted oncologist, Dr. Kelikian (Christopher Lloyd), as having stage four ovarian cancer. She agrees to undergo an eight month long clinical trial to fight this illness, which at the juncture of its discovery is, invariably, terminal. This course of experimental treatment is Professor Bearing's only hope, as she realizes that there is no stage five.
As she undergoes agonizing medical procedures which, it is hoped, may save her life, Professor Bearing muses on a number of life issues in the form of droll monologues. It is these reflections on her life and her illness that drive home to the viewer her humanity, as she struggles to reconcile the abstract with reality. An aloof, spare woman, with a penchant for being a demanding and exacting teacher, Professor Bearing is now trying to hang on to her humanity and dignity, as she is reduced to being a mere lump of flesh.
Made to suffer the indignities imposed by an experimental medical treatment that is brutally aggressive and by the ravages of an illness that is relentless, Professor Bearing keeps a stiff upper lip throughout, never letting down her guard, until the end draws near. During her medical odyssey, she is buoyed by the ministrations of her compassionate, primary care nurse, Susie (Audra McDonald), who seems to be the only member of the medical staff interested in her as a person, rather than as just another cog in the world of medical research. Susie is a perfect foil to the ambitious medical treatment fostered by a callow, though brilliant, young doctor, Jason Posner (Jonathan M. Woodward).
The most singular scene in this film, however, occurs near its end. It is the scene in which Professor Bearing's mentor, Professor E.M. Ashford (Eileen Atkins), visits her one time protege at the hospital. Heartrending, poignant, and infinitely beautiful, it is a scene so richly drawn that it that will haunt the viewer long after the film is over.
Ms. Thompson gives a consummate, beautifully nuanced performance, as does Eileen Atkins. Audra McDonald gives a tender performance, and Christopher Lloyd and Jonathan M. Woodward are, likewise, excellent in their respective roles. Harold Pinter does a wonderful, though brief, turn as Professor Bearing's father. All in all, this is a deftly directed, outstanding film with award caliber performances by the entire cast. Bravo!

Six Feet Under - The Complete Third Season (2001)

After hearing about and reading a lot of the hype surrounding this show, I thought it noteworthy to check out. Unfortunately for me, I have no cable television with which to view HBO. Therefore, I was stuck waiting until this show came out on DVD. When season one finally did come out on DVD, I rushed out and rented disc one. After only watching the first couple episodes, I was completely hooked, and decided to buy the DVD set. Since then, Six Feet Under has become my favorite shows.
Season three is definitely a pivotal season. Alan Ball does less of the writing, and this is easily noted within many episodes. Much of the quirkiness of the Fischer family seems lost, or at least altered. There seems to be far more drama with less of the fun comic relief that was always present in the first two seasons. The ebbing ups and downs seem to pique much more drastically, making season three quite a roller coaster ride of emotions, reaching it's crescendo with a dramatic cliffhanger finale that leaves you anxious to see what happens in season four.
Each and every character undergoes growth and maturity throughout the season, as in previous seasons. Claire is busy adjusting to art school, while David is trying desperately to patch up his relationship with Keith. Nate approaches life with a newfound appreciation after his brain surgery, and Brenda doesn't seem to be a part of his new plans. Ruth longingly seeks companionship after breaking things off with Nicolai, and finds it in some rather odd places. Federico is trying to find his place in the business as a new partner, while also trying to deal with troubles of his own at home. Brenda, after a brief excursion, attempts to find her way in the world without Nate. Each and every character and sub-plot is a completely unique and enticing character study of it's own, and the incredible acting from everyone involved makes each and every character totally believable.
Regardless of a few minor quibbles with this season, I still maintain that this is on of the best television shows I've ever seen. Never before have I viewed a television series that so accurately portrays the sheer rawness of human sentiment, spanning the gamut of emotional intensity with such fervor and wit. Even though this isn't my favorite season of the series, it still makes for far better viewing than the vast majority of shows that plague our television sets these days.
This single show is almost enough to make me want to fork out the money to get cable, but thanks to the DVD releases, that isn't necessary. I'm only sad this show is going to end after a mere five seasons. Overall, a very highly recommended series.

Nighty Night - The Complete Series 1 (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Every so often a sitcom comes along that stays with you for a very long time after you've watched it, and "Nighty Night", the BBC's most recent sitcom-to-DVD conversion, is just such a thing.
Jill Tyrell (Julia Davis, the show's writer and creator, and a fabulous comedy actress, to boot), a beautician in a nondescript Northern town, is devastated to learn that her husband Terry (Kevin Eldon) has cancer. This happens to be the first scene of the first episode, and it's the last rational reaction you'll see for the next three hours. Jill, not one to rest on her laurels, decides a new man is the order of the day, and, before Terry is even ill, much less dead, deposits him in the hospital and heads off to find a man. Enter the unlucky Don (Angus Deayton), and his multiple sclerosis-afflicted wife Cathy (Rebecca Front), as Jill's new neighbours. Deciding that he's the man for her, and blindly ignoring the fact that Terry doesn't seem to be getting any sicker, Jill goes about driving a wedge between Don and Cathy, and keeping Terry's presence a secret from all and sundry.
As with "The League of Gentlemen", "Nighty Night" is a comedy that gets laughs from its situational absurdity. The main characters, with the exception of Jill, are portrayed beautifully as normal, rational people cast headlong into an unreasonable situation, but, thanks to the machinations of the ensemble of secondary characters (such as the gloriously funny Ruth Jones as Jill's long-suffering employee and friend Linda, and the wickedly irreverent Mark Gatiss as her erstwhile paramour Glenn Bulb), they soon find themselves descending to a level of abnormality that they're clearly not comfortable with. Happily, this makes for the best viewing, and "Nighty Night" is one of the best comedies to come out of Britain in recent years.
Julia Davis as Jill is monstrously cruel, totally self-centred and completely sociopathic, but, as with all good anti-heroes, she manages to generate such sympathy for the character that we are rooting for her to win, in the end. It's a brilliant portrayal of a character, that, in the hands of a lesser actress or with less care taken over the finer points of the script, could easily have sunk into one-dimensional nastiness. Happily, Davis has created in Jill Tyrell a sitcom heroine to rival - and beat - the likes of Basil Fawlty, Patsy Stone and Vicki Pollard at their own game.
I'm not going to give anything away, so I'm going to end my review here, suffice it so say that here are three of the best and funniest hours you could ever own on DVD. Extras - outtakes and almost twenty minutes of deleted scenes - are wonderful, and the audio/video quality is, as one would expect from the BBC, top-drawer.
Wholeheartedly recommended as an essential purchase.

Just received this DVD and was sorely disappointed. I guess I've been spoiled by only watching the good ones with David Wells and Ciaran O'Keefe so far. The THREE episodes on here (yes, only three) all have that over dramatic/over acting Derek A. in them. In addition, they were not at all scary, nothing substantial happened in any of them, and I actually fell asleep during the last one. Very sorry I wasted my money on this. Derek's constant yammering throughout all three episodes gets old fast. Seriously, the man does not shut up. I recommend season 7 and up only.

I had no idea what to expect when I purchased this Six feet Under box set. I heard from many friends that this was one great show I had to check out. I never had any interest of watching this show when it was on HBO. I wish I would have given it a chance when it was still on the air. I just completed watching all five seasons and it took me a little over a month to do it. The first few episodes made me wonder if this show was even worth getting, but after the first 2 episodes I was hooked. The show is about the Fisher family who own a funeral home. Every episode starts out with a death and sets the tone for that show. I have seen many TV shows, but no other show has dealt with life and how we deal with it like this show does. The characters on Six Feet Under are not all just white folks. The show has a great balance of ethnicity and diversity. You get characters who are gay, latino, black, and many others(some with major issues). This show has some of the best acting I have ever seen. If you're like me you're probably thinking a show about a family that owns a funeral home? This show is so much more than that. I like the fact that this show takes you on a journey with the characters, and as each season passes the show just gives you more twists and turns. The very last episode of this series is one of the best hours and most emotional hours of TV I have ever watched. After you see the last episode you will know that life is a gift and appreciate it more than ever. I highly recommend this truly unique and amazing show!

Koch Vision and BBC presents "A HARLOT'S PROGRESS" (2006) (120 mins/Color) (Dolby Digital) --- Toby Jones (AMAZING GRACE) plays English artist William Hogarth in this retelling of his life --- The film brings all the grubbiness of 18th century London to the screen as Hogarth's undoubted talent, and his infamous relationship with a prostitute, is outlined in vivid style --- Great contrasts and characterization --- William Hogarth (November 10, 1697 - October 26, 1764) was a major English painter, printmaker, pictorial satirist, social critic and editorial cartoonist who has been credited with pioneering western sequential art --- His work ranged from excellent realistic portraiture to comic strip-like series of pictures called "modern moral subjects" --- Much of his work, though at times vicious, poked fun at contemporary politics and customs --- Illustrations in such style are often referred to as Hogarthian --- BBC and Koch Vision release.

A Harlot's Progress (also known as The Harlot's Progress) is a series of six paintings (1731, now lost) and engravings (1732) by William Hogarth. The series shows the story of a young woman, Mary (or Moll) Hackabout, who arrives in London from the country and becomes a prostitute. The series was developed from the third image: having painted a prostitute in her boudoir in a garret on Drury Lane, Hogarth struck upon the idea of creating scenes from her earlier and later life. The title and rich allegory are reminiscent of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.
In the first scene, an old woman praises her beauty and suggests a profitable occupation, procuring her for the gentleman shown to the back of the image. She is a mistress with two lovers in the second, has become a common prostitute on the point of being arrested in the third, and is beating hemp in Bridewell Prison in the fourth. By the fifth, she is dying from venereal disease, and she is dead aged only 23 in the last.
The protagonist is named after the heroine of Moll Flanders and Kate Hackabout. Kate was a notorious prostitute and the sister of highwayman Francis Hackabout: he was hanged on 17 April 1730; she was convicted of keeping a disorderly house in August the same year, having been arrested by Westminster magistrate Sir John Gonson.
The series of paintings proved to be very popular, and Hogarth used his experience as an apprentice to a silversmith to create engravings of the images, selling a "limited edition" of 1,240 sets of six prints to subscribers for a guinea. Pirate copies of the engravings were soon in circulation, and Hogarth procured a 1735 Act of Parliament (8 Geo. II. cap. 13) to prohibit the practice. Soon after, Hogarth published his second series of satirical and moralistic images, A Rake's Progress, followed some years later by Marriage à-la-mode.
The original paintings were destroyed in a fire at Fonthill Abbey, the country house of William Beckford in Wiltshire, in 1755. The original plates survived, and were sold by Hogarth's widow, Jane, to John Boydell in 1789; by him to Baldwin, Cradock and Joy in 1818, and then to Henry Bohn in 1835. Each produced further copies.(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

You may well be wondering how a respectable gentleman like me came to paint such scenes... 1731. Searching for inspirations inside London s seedy shadowlands, William Hogarth (Toby Jones) meets the beguiling Mary Collins (Zoe Tapper) in a Covent Garden brothel. The young prostitute soon becomes his muse, and as the artist strives for integrity, he grows dangerously close to his sordid subject. Torn between virtue and vice, Hogarth ultimately finds the spark he needs and creates A Harlot s Progress the series of paintings which brought him fame, wealth and respectability.

I believe that TBAA was one of the very best shows ever on TV. Because of that, I own the first four seasons already. Next month will be 2 years I have been waiting for season 5. And this is what they offer? A few episodes that someone ELSE considers the best? Tell me, how many of them do I already own?
CBS and Paramount, can you spell c-u-s-t-o-m-e-r? Do you know what a customer is? A customer is the person that gives you his/her hard earned money (that stuff that makes you rich) for a product you produce because the customer wants it. I am one of your customers and here is what I want. I want ALL episodes of seasons 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
TBAA got better every year after season 4. You've served the appetizer and we are waiting for the soup, salad, main couse and desert. And all you can offer is another appetizer? Release the entire seasons 5-9 and I will be first in line to buy them. I have asked Amazon to email me as soon as there is an announcement of the release of the complete season 5 or season 6 or 7 or 8 or 9.
I guess you just don't want my money. I'm not giving up my hard earned money on the remote chance that this little appetizer might actually contain maybe, ONE of MY favorite episodes.

Mulberry: The Complete Series Review

Mulberry: The Complete Series
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One great British cult favorite. An offbeat comedy nicely described above in the "Editorial Review"; however, the hook of the series is absurdly given away above in the "Plot Summery".
Indeed, this delightful series is about a mysterious stranger (Mulberry) who insinuates himself into the household of the elderly Miss Farnaby.
Mulberry is the surprisingly cheerful son of "Death" training for the day he takes over Dad's job. His father insists that the taking of a life is not a punishment. "It's just the way things are." However, Mulberry is determined to allow the reclusive and cantankerous Miss Fanaby a chance to enjoy life before completing his assignment.
Slowly in each episode Mulberry draws out Miss Farnaby as well as her two surly servants; and so ironically, the "Son of Death" improves everybody's lives.
"Mulberry" could have been weird, grim and macabre a la "The Aadams Family". Instead, this British gem is quirky, funny and utterly charming. Despite the fantasy element of death personified "Mulberry" is more like the series "As Time Goes By" then other fantasy shows like "My Hero"; the humor on "Mulberry" is gentle sometimes bittersweet rather than ironic or absurd.
Recommended if you liked "On the Up", "Waiting for God" or "As Time Goes By".

Wanted: young person to render general domestic assistance. According to Bert and Alice, the two surly servants who work for the formidable Miss Farnaby (Geraldine McEwan), the notice should read: "Wanted: masochist to be at the beck and call of cantankerous old trout." Fortunately, Mulberry has never met Bert or Alice. In fact, no one knows where he comes from. Out of the blue, he just turns up one day at the family mansion, without a single qualification to his name, and sweet-talks his way into the job. Suddenly, the dull old house is not dull anymore and Miss Farnaby's life will never be the same again. But who is the mysterious man in black, and what does he want with Mulberry?
